Liked: Even though it's not in a city there's still tons to do. You can go to a free wine tasting just down the road or visit one of many villages nearby. The staff is super friendly and helpful. Sylvia gave us a ride to her village where we watched a medieval festival. The rooms have lockers which is a plus. Breakfast is available and it's pretty decent. There's a nice common area where you can meet people and a backyard if you want some privacy. And if you do want to see Firenze or Sienna it is still possible though the bus schedule can be tricky.

Disliked: No kitchen. Can't stay in Firenze/Sienna late because the last bus leaves at 6-7pm.

Liked: I loved the people. Both the people running the hostel and the guests staying there. I was traveling alone but always found friends to eat or travel to Florence with while I stayed her. The tuscan countryside is beautiful and if I didn't stay here I would have missed out on it. The facilities are clean and the services are great.

Disliked: The town was small, and an hour from Florence by bus. That said, I spent extra time here in travanelli just because it was so beautiful. If you just want to focus on Florence, your might be better off at another hostel.

Liked: A little out of Florence, but the bus ride offers a fantastic view of countryside. The staff are SO GREAT. They were the most accomodating and helpful and friendly hosts I have ever had. The rooms are clean and simple. Everything you need is provided and accounted for and, best of all, it's tranquil. The town is so charming and a just quick walk from the hostel.

Disliked: Customer left no negative feedback.

Disliked: it should not have showed up in search results for florence. It's hard to reach and is in a small village 30 km away from florence with nothing significant to see nearby. The village however is a small, serene and peaceful place and the hostel reflects the same spirit.

Liked: The staff were great. Rooms cater to your needs and it is super clean. It is in a small village so it tends to be quiet but it is comfortable.

Disliked: It was difficult to get to- ask your bus driver to let you know when to get off. It hasn't got much atmosphere as it is quiet- but that should be what you seek here.

Liked: - Host (she) is very friendly and caring customers perfectly - Accommodation is quite close in town of centre, around hostel we can find bars, restaurants, supermarket easily and especially, it is an area planted alots grape and produce red wine - People are very warmly although they can almost not speak English but ready to help you whatever you want

Disliked: Quite far from Florence centre, about over 1hrs by bus and zigzagging mountain path. So it's not convenient if you want to travel daily between Florence centre and hostel. However you can enjoy your time in here which enough interested in local food, market and atsmosphere as well

Liked: Very welcoming, good local advice. The owner (whose name I don't know) obviously loves her job. In a lovely area (not in Florence but that suited me, and it's an easy 50 minute bus trip in). Nice area for a few walks. Fridge was handy, I think there was a microwave too, and there was hot water for tea and coffee. Clean and enough space. Would love to return.

Disliked: Can't think of anything, really enjoyed the stay (september, 6pp dorm)

Liked: Tavernelle is not the most picturesque town but it has a big supermarket and if you Walk 5 mins outside you are deep in the Tuscan countryside with vineyards as far as the eye can see. The hostel is really fun and the staff are brilliant. Good breakfast for 1.90 euros. Pretty cheap stay and good beds, lockers, showers, computers, communal areas etc.

Disliked: Bit of a pain to get to - there is a bus from Firenze but doesn't run often at weekends. You can get a bus or train to poggibonsi from most places in the region and then get a bus from there to tavernelle. Only bad thing about the hostel itself is that there is no kitchen to use. There is a fridge and microwave but No kettle or hob. Oh and the bikes Are lethal! No brakes!

Disliked: It's too far away to Firenze it takes 40 minutes form hostel to Firenze and you have to pay 3,30 euros for one way to go Firenze so if you want to visit Firenze you must add the price 6,60 euros which is writing on Hostelbookers And the last bus is 7,50 pm so you can't see Firenze at night. Also They don't have cooker in the kitchen.

Liked: Very homey and quiet! It was perfect for a relaxing weekend away from busy, touristy cities. Leisurely walks through the countryside, wine tasting, and even a wild boar festival in the village...what more could you want? Oh I know...free coffee, tea or hot chocolate all day? Done! :-)

Disliked: Wifi didnt work in the bedrooms so it was difficult that way...trying to Skype from the common room without disturbing the others around wasnt easy! Also, no access to a sink in the "kitchen". The main kitchen is off limits to guests (prob because its more of a commercial kitchen than residential)...it was still fine, we had access to a microwave and toaster oven....but a sink would make things much easier.

Liked: If you are looking for a romantic getaway, perhaps look elsewhere, but you will spend ALOT more. If you are looking to explore the Italian countryside, wine taste, and relax in a non-touristy area, this is THE place at a budget price. Ostello del Chianti is a hostel, and it has a hostel feel, but it is set in the rural countryside, which makes for great bike rides, walks, wine tasting, and every night we were there the square had some activity on. Read the location carefully and don't expect to be exploring Florence everyday from this location. Better to stay one night in Florence to see the sites, then head to the countryside for as long as you can! I would recomend weekdays when it is not as crowded.

Disliked: The kitchen has a fridge, microwave, and toaster oven. There is no stovetop to boil water or cook food. The kitchen is more of a room with plates and dishes, but no real way to cook. This was a little disappointing, however, there is a fantastic grocery store that makes excellent food that can be heated in the toaster over. Plus, all the restaurants are much cheaper than in Florence.

Liked: If you're looking for a lovely Tuscan get away this is not the place to stay. It's fine for exploring other towns and areas but a Garden View room is a view of a patch of grass and dirt and a building site. Fine for a bed in a hot room, breakfast and a shower. Hey it's much cheaper than other options and the small town it was in was nice. Fine for easy going backpackers not for someone wanting a nice Tuscan experience.

Disliked: Rooms are too hot to sleep and have no character and are like cells. Shower pressure is no good. Buses are pretty irregular where we found ourselves waiting 2 hours for the next one to Florence mid morning... and on the return from Sienna a 1.5 hour wait at a small town where you need to change buses.
