The Locanda Ripa delle Janare, literally “The Fairy Inn", derives its name from the legend of the "Janare". The most characteristic place of Furore is the Fjord.
An ancient fishermen Village with its luxuriant vegetation, mills and paper Factory. It is just in a wild and mysterious atmosphere like this that becomes part one of the most fascinating legends of the popular tradition and local superstition: the “Janare”. We try to know something more.
The etymology of the term of “Janare” would derive from Diana, goddess of the hunting and of the magic. But in these cases truth and fiction they are melted and it appears difficult to distinguish them. It is recounted, moreover, that these strange creatures, much similar to the common Fairies, flew in the night, with their chest covered with a magical ointment, and possessed vary powers, like to cause storms and transforming themselves in animals, that they knew the use of the herb in order to cure any kind of disease.
The tradition wants that the Janare met on the beach of the Fjord, coming from several parts of the country through ancient paths along the Walloon.
