Overview
The hotel Amalfi, run by the family Lucibello, who are also the owners, has offered its warm hospitality since 1972. Close to the beach and Bus Station.
The building is an old, completely restored pasta factory situated in the quarter called Truglio and is accessible by the main street Via Lorenzo d'Amalfi.
The simply but tastefully furnished 40 rooms have WC/shower with hair-dryer, telephone, satellite - TV, safety-box, and some with air conditioning (available on payment). Some rooms have balconies lively coloured with geraniums. In order to make the guests’ stay as comfortable as possible, the hotel offers an American-bar, TV-room, reading-room, terrace, roof-garden, and lift.
The restaurant on the 5th floor has been conceived as an open space thanks to its glass windows with a view of the Mediterranean style houses of the historical centre. In summer time, it is possible to have dinner on the wide terrace, and breakfast is also served here.
The cuisine is typical of the region, based on the fresh fish of the Amalfitan coast and the products chosen daily for their quality and geniality. Every dish is prepared with care and love for the Mediterranean gastronomic tradition. The proposed menus are always to satisfy the guests’ taste as well as possible.
The term Truglio is an onomatopoeic word deriving from the Arabic language indicating the boiling of the mixture of water and flour in the preparation tubs. Thanks to its old destination the hotel stands in a cool and dry place in the very centre of the town, a few meters from the Arab-Norman Cathedral, which overlooks the main square from its imposing flight of steps.
Also the beaches and piers to Salerno, Naples, Ischia, Capri and Positano are near the hotel as well as the bus terminals and parking. You can find all the services useful to those who choose to sejourn in the most ancient of the Italian sea republics.
