Liked: Maria, the hostess, is delightful. We don't speak any Italian and she didn't speak any English but her welcome could not have been warmer. The place is run like a family home and we were welcomed with a large, communal lunch, introduced to the other guests (all Italian speaking) and made to feel very at home with food and wine. It was a great opportunity to practise our Italian, all the food was home grown and home cooked, the room was spacious and comfortable and just enough off the tourist trail of Amalfi to be a real bolt-hole. We will definitely be returning.

Disliked: The directions on HostelBookers need to be clearer. It said we needed to call when we arrived in Agerola and she would meet us and bring us to the hostel, but as she didnt speak English (and the phone number was wrong) this meant that we almost didn't make it. This would have been a real shame, given how good the place is and it was only through the help of Maria's son Alessandro and his language skills that we found the place. This could have been addressed if decent directions had been provided on the web site as the place wasnt actually that difficult to find.
