Liked: -CHEAP In the hostel (not the hotel, there is two different locations right next to each other) is a nice community room with old sofas and a heater, so the room is warmer than all the others... -the boss helps you if you need to get to the airport or somewhere else.

Disliked: -DIRTY, UNFRIENDLY STAFF Overall it was dirty, according to the black edges of the washbasins, they haven't been cleaned in months. Flipflops are highly recommended in those showers! The sheet on my bed had black hair and crumbs on it, so I could tell it hadn't been changed (which was confirmed the next day when I looked in the room in the evening again, when new guests were sleeping on our old sheets). During the day somebody took my blanket, which would be no big deal, but apperently it was quit hard to get another blanket... so first the unfriendly staff (who always told a little boy to do the shitty work, poor boy) gave me an extremly thin blanket (it was winter!), I asked for another one: got another thin and in addition wet blanket...Since they already gave me stupid looks I was too ashamed to ask a third time... There is another community room with free teabags and instant coffee and a kitchen, eventhough it's hard to call it that it's more of a storeroom, the kitchen is not heated, the water is cold (therefore the dishes don't get clean).... well over all, it is one of the cheaptest places in Jerusalem and even all Israel... but apperently you can't expect a lot for that money.

Liked: The location near Damascus Gate is excellent (Google Maps doesn't show it correctly, however). There was good parking by the gate (though they charged us outrageously -- and tried to charge us even more -- one day when we made the mistake of coming in before 6 PM. Free computer was appreciated, and free wireless one day when the provided computer wasn't working properly. Good breakfast (on the hotel side). Also good Arabic food right outside. Felt safe to go in and out.

Disliked: Bottom sheets might not have been washed, no pillow cases were offered. Had to ask for toilet paper (and not sure it would be provided) when all three toilets were lacking simultaneously. Toilets were not thoroughly clean, though good enough for experienced low-budget travelers.

Liked: Excellent location, staff, overall atmosphere. Stayed in the hotel-wing and foud it ideal for the 11 days we were in Jerusalem.

Disliked: Nothing

Liked: A cosy common area with a television. Excellent location.

Disliked: The folks at the front desk tried to rip us off by charging us the 10% that Hostel Bookers already deducts from your credit card when the internet booking has been made. So travellers, keep the receipt of payment from Hostel Bookers as proof of the payment that further needs to be paid upon reaching the hostel.

Liked: Great location by Damascus gate and late-night falafel, the best prices around, and is not a sterile flavorless sort of hostel.

Disliked: wifi went down for one day, but then it got working again.

Liked: More or less decent breakfast. Free tea and coffee. Hotel side is nice.

Disliked: En suite rooms without windows. Hostel side somewhat inconvenient. Not a pleasant atmosphere.

Liked: Excellent!! Great service, staff very kind and the best location ever. If you go to Jerusalem, just go here. The breakfast is very good too.

Disliked: They don't have a map when i arrived, but the owner give me one the day after.

Liked: The great central location makes this hostel remarkable value for money.

Disliked: The shared kitchen could have been cleaned more regularly - all cleaning was done by hostel guests at their own initiative and expense!

Liked: Good position, close to the Damascus Gate. There are no frills, just a bed and a reasonably clean room. Plenty of hot water for showering. The staff were friendly and helpfull.

Disliked: The market close by can be noisey in the evenings. Under the bed could have been cleaner.

Liked: The location of New Palm Hostel is GREAT! You are right across the street from the old city. Also, the staff is friendly, helpful and they make you feel at home.

Disliked: You're not allowed to use the computer before 8:00 am...which seems a little arbitrary...

Liked: Great location, great staff, relaxed atmosphere... I highly recommend this place... Try if you can to get a room with a view over Damascus Gate, it's beautiful... Best value for money in Jerusalem!

Disliked: Nothing really. The rooms are a bit small, but they're clean.

Liked: Location is very good and easy that go to anywere by taxi or buses, trum from this hotel and near by cheap-minishops and supermarket for foods and restaurants..streets-foods. Easy to make a friends with other traveller and very international place.

Disliked: No clean and shower didn`t work sometimes..no key for shares room with 8persons for woman.

Liked: i loved the staff they were all very friendly and the location is also great, it is very close to the center and also to the old city. i liked the street of the hostel with all the markets, it has a nice atmosphere. i also enjoyed meeting other travelers from all around the world.

Disliked: i sometimes had no hot water! the room is rather small, especially the bathroom and it is quite loud at night in rooms looking at the streets.

Liked: I enjoyed my stay at the New Palm Hostel the staff were very helpfull, Ali is great chap,the hostel was clean and the sheets were changed,hot water was provided plus the use of the kitchen was a great help. Mohammad (UK)

Liked: The hostel was very nice and clean. I loved to wake up and see the Old city from my window! There was an air conditioner in the lobby, mint tea was served and the breakfast was pretty nice. The price/ quality rate is especially good thing about the hostel if you consider the very central location. I booked at first for one night, but ended up staying five days longer. Not sure, where some negative reviews come from, but I guess one should rely more on one's own experience. Nice hostel.

Liked: friendly staff and good location to the old city. beds were clean and good. Effort was made to make our stay comfortable eg. extra blankets etc..

Disliked: small overcrowded kitchen.

Liked: Great location, 1 min. walk to the Old City

Disliked: Too cold in the rooms at night. Often you have to wait somebody bring breakfast to you, there is NO public access to breakfast every day. Some strange procedure...
