The staff was very friendly - the chef cooked us a delicious dinner although the restaurant was already closed.

A designated Milestone Heritage Site, the Old Cable House is a unique residence in Waterville Village which traces its origins to the first transatlantic telegraph cable laid from Ireland/Europe to USA in 1866.

It provides bright spacious rooms of character and retains all its original features from the 19th century.

The hostel also offers fresh seafood from local Boats for dinner in the evenings and bike and beach rod hire on a daily basis. Trips to the Skellig Michael 6th century early Christian Monastic Settlement can also be arranged.

Payment is processed on confirmed bookings. We operate a 48 hour cancellation policy outside of this no charge applies. In the case of no show 1st night charge applies.

Location Information

Waterville Kerry is famous for its natural beauty and green landscapes but it is also a region which is full of great historical significance and interest. Historic houses, galleries, national parks all play a role in bringing alive our Celtic and Christian Heritage so evident in this location. Personal attention and advice on all walks and tourist attractions in the Region.

Waterville is also the only Seafront village on the Ring Of Kerry and is situated at the half way stopping point on the world famous Ring of Kerry. It boasts some of the best land and seascapes in Ireland and as many as 20 world class golf courses. There is also free Salmon and Seatrout fishing at the nearby Lough Currane.

It is also renowned for its unique pubs where locals love to share their knowledge of Kerry over a pint of Guinness known in Ireland as “vitamin G” 'the black stuff.' Irish music, dancing and the famous 'craic' all within walking distance to the house.
