This setting offers a great base for exploring Connemara to the north, the Burren close by, the Cliffs of Moher to the southwest and the Aran Islands off the West Coast. The Burren was listed as the number one Irish adventure by The Sunday Times (UK) in its 19 January 2003 issue. Hill walking, rare flora and fauna, limestone landscape, ancient tombs and ring forts all make the Burren one of the most unique places in all the country. There is a blue flagged beach 5 minutes walk from the hostel. There is a fully equipped self-catering kitchen, large dining area and relaxing common room with a real turf fire on the cooler Irish evenings. Warmer evenings will often find people enjoying their meals at the picnic tables or playing a game of volleyball. Other features of the hostel include Internet access, a small shop in reception, free Irish movies in the evening and bike hire. We cater for groups so if you have any groups enquires please contact us.
The original discussion took place in this house between W.B.Yeats, Sir Edward Martyn and Lady Gregory which lead to the foundation of the famous Abbey Theatre. Nearby is the spectacular lunar landscape of the Burren, Ailwee caves, Lisdoonvarna Hot Springs, Dunguire Castle and the awesome Cliffs of Moher, which tower 215m above the sea and stretch for 9km.
Kinvara village offers tremendous traditional music in the local pubs. Most evenings in the summer, and 3-5 nights a week in the winter, you will find musicians playing sessions in Kinvara. It is a delightful village with full service grocery stores, post office, fine restaurants, fishing pier, charming gift shops and a mediaeval castle.
Please note: We do not accept bookings for more then 10 people. Any such booking will be cancelled and the deposit will not be refunded. For all group bookings please email groups@hostelbookers.com.
