Liked: nice rooms, nice people, nice kitchen and common room. all the needs of a hostel is satisfied.

Disliked: I wouldn't call bread and jam a free breakfast. Add some peanut butter!

Liked: Staff were really friendly and good fun it's truly the best hostel I've stayed in a long time the only problem that I have even it doesn't affect me as I have an android fone is the lack time you can use on the internet other than that it's truly a smashing place to stay

Liked: The staff were great, the lounge was good fun and the location is pretty sweet.

Disliked: The second floor bathrooms were pretty horrible and there are no lockers in the rooms. And dude, them floors are creaky!

Liked: Excellent location right in the heart of Galway city.

Disliked: The six bed dorm room was very small and the bathroom was across the corridor, not in the room. We paid an extra €3 each to have a late checkout but were still woken up at ten by mistake!

Liked: The staff are very friendly and the location is absolutely perfect if you like some good live music at night.

Disliked: No wifi in room, only in common room and kitchen.

Liked: Very well located in the middle of the town. The staff was very helpful and kind. The room was clean and tidy. Facilities are quite good.

Disliked: Very noisy at night as it is surrounded by pubs and restaurants. In our case, it was not a problem for us.

Liked: Right in the middle of everything going on in the city. Super friendly staff.

Disliked: The warm water ran out at the end of the day so the shower was cold.

Liked: It was a few steps away from the best pubs and clubs in Galway, discounts on tours

Disliked: Noise at 4am + , slightly dirty kitchen, not enough powerpoints, staff was not very aware of the differences amongst the tours offered

Liked: It's clean, comfortable, friendly. We slept well and had toast for breakfast in a friendly atmosphere of other travelers. And we appreciated being able to check in at 3 AM and also the luggage storage.

Disliked: The mattress could use being changed, but I guess it gets a lot of use (lower bunk bed), my boyfriend had no complaints of his on the upper one.

Liked: nice place, good location

Disliked: shower didn't work and they didn't fix it for 2 days, everytime you would have to go and ask for a special key for the shower outside...People were partying in the corridor at night and nobody told anything!!

Liked: Great place to stay just next to plenty much of pubs and on a pedestrian street.

Disliked: Very noisy since your are on the same street with pubs and bars. So your sleep will be light!

Liked: Since its located on the main street for all the pubs it is very close to the center.

Disliked: The same as the positive, don't count on getting any sleep without earplugs in this building. And we stayed there on weekdays so there is no difference to that either. Really bad breakfast with only toasts and tea/coffee, but I guess that you get what you pay for. I will not book this hostel again if I return to Galway...

Liked: Great location and atmosphere! Staff were helpful and the incldued breakfast was good (toast, juce and tea/coffee). Kitchen was big and a good place to meet other travellers :)

Disliked: Some people might not like that it can be noisy late at night because it is on the main street and across from a couple of pubs, but it didn't bother me.

Liked: Location was spot on. Right in the thick of things like restaurants and pubs. Some staff were helpful (tell you about the discount ticket for the ferry to the Arran Island they sell there) other staff members no so much (ask for bus time to County Kerry and she just hand me the folder with all timetables without a word) Breakfast was good!

Disliked: Rooms were a little bit small and stuffy, hard to move around when everyone is in there (I had a 4 bed dorm with en suite). Kitchen and lounge were also quite small, I think there was a large group there who took over the lounge so I didn't feel comfortable chilling out in there.

Liked: Close to the city centre. Other hostels are as close, anyways.

Disliked: We are disappointed with their booking cancellation policy. Barnacles withdraws automatically the value of the first nights from your credit card, in case of a last minute change of plans, and still charges you the highest collateral in Ireland at booking. Other hostels in Galway/Ireland are more flexible because they are already insured against booking cancelations with a much lower collateral than Barnacles (3€ vs 10€).

Liked: Central to pretty much everything a traveller wants to see. Plenty of bars, restraurants, and live music joints. This is a basic place to drop your bag and sleep.

Disliked: The bed assignments were a little screwy, so it became every person for themself.

Disliked: Veryyyyy noisy! Not noise from the street but from the costumers of the hostel.... Staff do nothing about parties going on the hostel!
