The Woodquay Hostel is located in the heart of Galway on the west coast of Ireland. We offer comfortable accommodation in a friendly atmosphere at a budget price.

The Hostel is in a safe and central position near the bus and train stations and a stone's throw from the main shopping and cultural sites of Galway City, “home to a super mix of pubs, clubs and restaurants, its "buzzing" scene of music and theatres with shops and cafes lining the narrow cobbled streets”.

Galway is a fast growing city where the modern meets the traditional on almost every street corner. It is an ideal spot from which to begin a trip further west along the coast of Connemara, to head across the sea to the Aran Islands or to further inland.

Galway is also notorious for its many historic sites which you can visit, from the famous Salmon Weir Bridge, historic Galway Cathedral through to the beautiful beaches in Salthill which are all within walking distance of the hostel.

The Aran Islands are 48Kms out into the Atlantic from Galway City. Consisting of Inishmore, Inishmaan and Inisheer, many Islanders are Gaelic speaking and a large number of students visit these rugged and barren islands every year.

Accommodation Information

Building:
The building is over 130 years old. It has recently been renovated but maintains its character. It is centrally heated and has over night security. Described as “old fashioned and homely”

Kitchen:
The kitchen is large, spacious and well equipped to accommodate groups of people.

Bedrooms and Bathrooms:
The bedrooms are clean and have new beds. Bathrooms are small but sufficient. Some rooms have en suites.

Common Room and Dining Room:
Fully equipped with books, tv, video, music and games. Wi-fi enabled on ground floor. The dining room has four large tables.

We are 5 minutes from the Bus and Train station. We are 6km from the Galway Airport and we are 5 minutes from the harbor.

Amenities:
We are just 2 minutes walk from Cathedral, University, Salmon Weir Bridge and hospital. We are 2 km from the sea front Salthill.

We are located 2 minute walk from Eyre Square and adjacent to all night life, clubs, restaurants, bars and theatre.
