Liked: Quiet property away from the centre of town with good facilities.

Disliked: The lockers in the dorm were pretty unsecure as any key that could be put into the locks could open them!

Liked: guesthouse in an upper standard house in a gated community in yogyakarta -> felt safe at all times.

Disliked: be careful with the tours offered by the staff. the volcano visit was a total rip-off. staff tries to lure you in places offering them provision (silver-craftsmen, expensive restaurants, etc)., they also provided a trip to bromo which was totally unorganized (dind't get the accomodation I booked, also had to pay extra fees, they said are included). Also my room wasn't cleaned before I arrived. bed was uncomfortable. cockroaches in the upper bathroom, which weren't removed for 1,5days. All in all there are way better places in Yogya, especially for the money.

Liked: The property is very good, it is relaxed and very friendly, also very safe. The garden is very nice and it is in a very quiet neighbourhood.

Disliked: nothing... Well maybe the trip to Bali, via Bromo, I organised with the owner (not her fault), the hotel in Bromo was not very nice and the operating company in Bromo were rubbish. Also the bus to Bali was full with very little space to sit, as they put 5 seats across the bus and not the normal 4. It was a very painful journey and then the bus dumped us after the ferry to make our own way to Lovina, giving us 30,000 RP, when it cost 60,000RP. I had paid for a ticket to Lovina, and because of this I did not arrive until midnight. Avoid this company, the car from the hostel to Bromo was good but the driver got lost and it took over 15 hours to get to Bromo.

Liked: It was great that the owners were Dutch! Because we are Dutch too, this was just easier. Also the tea at the door was great. It feld like beiing with friends. Another great thing is the amount of trips you can arrange with this B&B. Ofcourse it is a little more expensive than travelling with mini-buses, but you can see the Borobudur and the Prambanan in one day!

Disliked: Ofcourse the center of Yogja is easy to access by taxi, but it's really far if you want to walk (half an hour to the train station, 1,5 hour to the center).

Liked: Great, quiet house with lovely chilled out garden. It seemed quite isolated initially but it was sooooo nice to hear cicadas at night rather than roaring traffic (it's in a quiet, very safe neighborhood), and only takes 5-10 mins into town (a $2 cab; take a longer more by bicycle, which the hostel has to lend out). The Dutch owners are knowledgeable and super friendly, the airport pickup was very smooth, and the excursion I did thru them was great (temples). All good :-)

Liked: The place has a ,nice, style of its own.Green Garden has recently changed ownership. The new owner tries her best to help out where possible and is very friendly.

Disliked: Location is not the best in Yogya, the free bicycles compensated a little for that though. Overall not the best value for money in Yogya, the rooms are basic and if your sleeping downstairs you'll experience noise in mornings and evenings by cause of the living area's all being next to it. Other possible place would be ViaVia hotel, with better value for (less)money. Coming from train/ bus station or airport: don't get fooled by drivers, get yourself a real taxi with meter inside, all others will overcharge you!

Liked: - Loads of stuff is included in the room price, e.g. laundry on the day of arrival, free bicycles (3d min), breakfast, airport pick-up (3d min.)- there's a dorm- Nice and secure place with friendly owners & staff

Disliked: - Quite far from the city centre (you need a taxi or use the bicycles for 20 min) - Tours are more expensive than the ones booked in the backpacker area - Beds in dorm have VERY thin matrasses

Liked: The double room on the 1st floor was extremely comfortable and private, which was a bonus! Doesn't matter that the bathroom was outside and free for all to use...:-)I loved the deco and privacy of this B&B..coming home to it each day was a real treat. It was cosy, clean and friendly.Thomas is the go-to man in the hostel. Together with the motherly Ibu and other caretakers (whose names I really don't remember, sorry), they ensured everyone was well taken care of. The tours were inexpensive as well.

Disliked: I think the breakfast could be improved on - perhaps having a toaster would help...

Liked: This hostel lived up to the great comments it has received. They offered a free airport pickup and there's a driver that works for the hostel that drove us around when we needed him for free. The staff is incredibly friendly and they offer great tours, which make traveling a little bit easier. They offer maps and all sorts of useful info and they even order food for you and have it delivered if you want them to! I cannot say enough about how wonderful this hostel was. It was very family oriented and very comfortable. Didn't want to leave them!

Liked: Nice and friendly staff and owner and the other guest where also friendly. Breakfast in the morning was also good especially the coffee. One but major setback was the matras and bed. The matras was really thin and it was hard to sleep on. And the bed was designed for Indonesian people and a bid small for a tall Europian. But the rest of the service and environment was really good.Grtz

19 May 2010 Somnath would recommend this property

Liked: Green Garden B&B is a nice place to stay for a few days in Yogya. The place is a mix between a B&B and hostel. The place is run by Robert who is a nice person and helpded with details. It is in the middle of a residential area away from the city center. In fact "Green Gardens" is the name of the residential area and the house is P46. Its a great place for people wanting security and a homely environment. If you are after the night life, be prepared for a 15-20 min taxi ride from city center. The hostel car may not always be available. I wanted to go to the airport in the morning and had to take a taxi (100,000 Rp) as the car was not available. Breakfast is good (no hot items). Was apprehensive of my stay in the non-AC room, but there was no problem at all. Just keep the fan on.

Disliked: Somnath left no negative feedback.
