Liked: Good location, nice bar with delicious food, friendly staff. A good and cheap beijing duck restaurant is just on the left side of the hostel. If you want a tailored suit, there is a good tailor across the street with fix prices.

Disliked: Beat left no negative feedback.

Liked: This hotel is in a sweet spot away from the craziness of central kuta but a stone throw away from legion that's not as hectic as kuta. I loved the rooftop bar where we played beerpong and the pool was nice, clean and refreshing! Also not a crowded hotel so had the pool to myself one day. The free breakfast is lovely and though an upgrade is possible for a price, you can also order 1 extra thing like eggs for only 20 cents. The dorm where I stayed was clean and semi private which was nice. The best dorm room I've stayed in while traveling 3 months. The whole place is just stunning.

Disliked: As a budget traveller, the price! Going from $3 a night to $25 was not ideal especially if you then still stay in a dorm for that price. The shower outside our dorm was cold but personally I loved it but others didn't. It was a good shower with excellent pressure, just cold. For price I feel all people staying at this hotel should get free pick up from airport not just those in room or staying longer. As well as the free massage.

Liked: swimming pool, spacious air con dorm with duvets and locker, free breakfast, various spaces to relax.

Disliked: 5 to 10 min walk to beach but i preferred the pool to the beach

Liked: Lovely place, in a great location not inside crazy kuta but close enough (5 min with a taxi - $2) for the nightlife. Stayed in a dorm and it was big with comfortable beds. The bathroom was super clean, the pool and restaurant area are great to meet people and they have a big screen for movies. would defo come back.

Disliked: Not a big thing but need to improve wifi conection. doesnt always work.

Liked: The Island is AMAZING! Everything was even better than we anticipated, and it really is like a little oasis hidden down the lane. You'll be blown away by how beautiful it is, and we agreed that you could pay hundreds of dollars a night for some fancy hotel and it probably wouldn't be much nicer! The crowd is mostly young backpackers from around the world (a far cry from the Bali bogan scene) and everyone ends up hanging out in the lounges or by the pool. I will never stay anywhere else in Bali!

Disliked: Literally the only thing I would change: the jam that comes with the free breakfast was a bit weird. That should tell you how incredible everything else was!

Liked: Its a good location, and the bar/restaurant area is good for chilling out in, showing movies some evenings. We got a 1hr free massage each when we checked in.

Disliked: The roof top bar was not open as advertised, I guess due to being low season but it meant there was no Happy Hour.

Liked: Good location, little bit of a walk to the beach but the pool makes up for it. Rooftop bar is great, as is happy hour. Breakfasts are good too.

Disliked: Breakfasts can be inconsistent day to day from what your order but still good. Noise at all hours of the night from people jumping in the pool.

Liked: Of all the hostels I've been to, this place realizes the balance of a hostel and a modern boutique hotel (without the cost). The common areas a nicely thought out, spacious and conducive to meeting people. The rooms are well appointed and comfortable. The pool is great for cooling down. The place is located in quiet backstreets easily reachable from the main street (tho it takes a little orientation). Some of the reviews mention that the alley leading up to this place is long and dark - I did not find that to be the case. Security guards from adjacent villas were sitting outside their places through the night so the alleys were never empty nor did they ever feel unsafe. Staff was friendly and hospitable.

Disliked: AirCon in my unit was weak (barely noticeable on hot days) - that could be just my unit. Private doubles are also a bit high in cost for a hostel (comparable to a boutique hotel in the area).

Liked: The staff were so friendly. They really tied to help where they could and always smiled. The facilities were great with the cleanliness of the dorm room, the toilets, the pool and surroundings. The top deck lookout for sunsets and rooftop bar were great chill out areas.

Disliked: The cost factor was more expensive than I initially thought with the currency conversion rate. However paying at the end of the trip was handy for travellers. Breakfast servings were also quite small and limited but were nice.

Liked: Pleasantly surprised at its general vibe and look. Everything feels almost like you're staying at a friend's place. The pool is lovely and the general hangout areas are comfortable and relaxing. Much more than I expected for a hostel; the beds are clean and made up by invisible cleaning people everyday. the free breakfast in the morning was adequate for me, but for those of you who need more than 2 pieces of toast, fruits and a pot of tea, there's other delicious stuff on the menu. Towels are handed out like it's nothing; some hostels go crazy on their towels. We stayed in the dorm; each bed has it's own locker light and space. Ceilings are high so it's not cramped; there are curtain dividers so you get a bit of privacy. Tours and transport arranged at the reception are highly reliable and they don't rip you off. Wifi is free, although a bit choppy. The Island also has activity nights like BBQ mondays and movie night wednesdays. Great place to meet people, but also a good place to just hole up and relax on your own. It's a very do what you want place. Beautiful too.

Disliked: The location is safe, the walk to the actual hostel can look really creepy ( it's literally the last building on the end of a long alleyway); but it is, from what I know, safe. Be brave! The dorm room, bless it for its loveliness, was often too hot. They have AC and fans going, but I guess it just doesn't quite do the job. The beds also are covered in plastic underneath the sheets? Making it noisy if you toss and turn at night... Even a little bit. And the bathrooms.. For the dorms are shared, which I don't have a problem with; I don't think they clean the sinks that much is all. Other than that, Perfect spot, really.

Liked: The Island hotel was a fantastic place to stay. The staff were friendly, the dorm room is large and airy. The beds are so comfortable and they have curtains which was a really nice touch. It was a really great experience staying here.

Disliked: The hotel is situated in the middle of a narrow alley so taxis cannot get in and it is not easy to find the place. The counter and cafe staff were generally rude and not helpful either. When asked if a taxi could be arranged for pick-up, the counter staff simply said no. No apology whatsoever. While she eventually did informed me that there is a back entrance that leads out to the main road where taxis will be easily available, when probed for further directions to the back entrance, all she said was that it is at the back, which was totally unhelpful. After searching for five minutes I eventually found the obscure entrance. It was just couple of steps away from her. Would not have taken her more than 5 seconds to stand up, take that few steps and point me in the right direction.

Liked: The location is perfect only a 5 min walk to the beach and shops, restaurants bars are all around. The staff are super friendly and accommodating and will do almost anything for you. The hostel is very clean and housekeeping even make your bed for you in the dorm rooms (never seen that before in a hostel!). It's a great place to meet people and make friends especially if you hang out by the gorgeous pool! There is free wifi, a free massage, cheap cocktails on the terrace bar and a free breakfast which is very welcome after a night out partying in Kuta! Also, the food is delicious especially the pizza and salads and the kitchen staff never fail to smile and make you laugh. Really had a great stay! :)

Disliked: There really is nothing to dislike!

Liked: Loved it here! I stayed in the dorm room which was really nice, clean and quiet. Showers very nice too. Other guests extremely friendly - people invite you out for dinner, or you end up arranging trips together. A great place to meet people on your travels. So nice for a hostel! Gorgeous pool and roof terrace.

Disliked: Bit of a walk to the beach. Tip - jump on a bike for a quick cheap ride (about £1). Breakfast could have been a bit better - was OK - toast and fruit.

Liked: The accommodation was really nice and well kept - room, pool, cafe, terrace etc. Communal areas are well laid out so good for meeting others. However, the location was fine but I did not like that part of Bali - dirty and trashy but each to their own.

Disliked: The staff were not helpful - I booked four nights a few weeks in advance. On arrival they claimed they had tried to contact me to advise they did not have an available room for my first night. I had not received anything informing me of this and I had emailed them the day before to inquire about pick up from the ferry as I was travelling from Lombok. After asking them to phone around to find another available room close by I went back for 3 nights. Also I found that the staff did not communicate effectively with each other and I was told different information. Disappointing as the place itself was good.

Liked: This place was great! Very friendly and clean, large dorm rooms and a great pool. Only 5 min walk to beach, and 2 minute walk to everything you need, yet it is still nice and quiet. Was only going to stay for 2 nights, but ended up staying 5 and will be going back there next time.

Disliked: Nothing not to like about this place, can be a little tricky to find the first time but its easy if you just follow the map they give you.

Liked: The island hotel is a welcome sanctuary from the busy streets of Legian. Modern in decor with comfy beds. Beautiful central pool to cool off or relax.

Disliked: The dorm room I stayed in although beautiful...was pricey, the mattress remained in its plastic covering (for cleanliness and protection) yet made a noise when ever i or others in their beds, moved...shared mix bathrooms were a bit grubby by the evening and breakfast was incl. in my price however i was told nothing could be left out for me as i was leaving 30 mins before breakfast began at 7am :/

Disliked: Can be unsafe to walk through the gangs back to the hotel at night.
