Liked: located in the center of Varanasi (near the main Ghat), but still a quiet street, good view from the roof top, in close neighborhood: german brown bread bakery (breakfast) and dolphin restaurant (for lunch & dinner) are worth a recommendation

Disliked: no hot water, roof-top-restaurant is awful (food isn´t tasty, service is horrible), toilet paper not included, they tried to sell us an old/used lonely planet for a fortune, little irritated about several men (homies of the owner) hanging out in the entrance area all day long

Liked: the place is clean with friendly nice atmosphere, rooms are also nice and clean

Disliked: we were very disapointed by loundry services, after 2 days staying we collected our loundry wet and the coloures went off from clothes... the stuff apologized and did not charge us for the service, still the clothes are damaged

Liked: Good value for money, friendly staff and good location.

Disliked: Small rooms, very hard to find. Make sure you request train station/bus station pick up as you wont find it on your own! Quite a long walk from the road with a heavy bag!

Liked: The rooftop restaurant was o.k if they remembered your order.

Disliked: 1. They didn't pick up from train station. They didn't look at the internet for whoever booked on hostel bookers. When they finally arrived they organized a bike rickshaw which then took 40 minutes to get to hostel. 2. They took three days to do laundry and kept us hanging those three days by saying 'it is coming in an hour, it is coming in an hour'. When it did come my white shirts turned a lovely brown or pink. 3. A fan broke in the room next to us and just missed a lady who was fortunately in the bathroom when it happened. 4. Our toilet broke. I fixed it fortunately, so not to the disturb the ridiculously busy staff. 5. The owner friendly? Absolute joke. If you want to see an arrogant man reading newspapers and playing on his computer while his staff are running around for waiting guests then come here. He made me sick. 6. Electricity kept going out (although of course this is problem everywhere).

Liked: The staff are very helpful, always polite and as a female travelling on my own I felt comfortable here. They organised a dawn boat trip for me, hassle free, which is what you want!

Disliked: The rooms are not as spacious as they look on the website, but Varanasi isn't a place you stay in the room other than sleep, to much to see. Breakfast was a bit average too.

Liked: I have NEVER met a hotel manager like him who goes really out of his way to help a client. I had problems, he solved them all quickly and free. For me this manager reacted more like a friend than a hotel manager. Please go there and book through this site, it is half the price

Disliked: a bit too far away, but it is like all the other hotels in that area.

Disliked: This place is a dirt hole! Way too expensive for what you get. Staff not helpful at all and the owner is very arrogant. We had to wait 24 hours to get hot water. We do not recommend this place at all!

Liked: The owner and staff were very friendly and helpful when needed. The location is excellent as it's near the Ghats. The room were clean on arrival. No filthy insects in the beds or any scary stories. The staff made me feel welcome.

Disliked: The room and facilities: It is not value for money at all. For the price that one pays, I would expect a bigger room, an ensuite and clean linen daily. I have stayed in bigger rooms equivalent to 5 star in "hostel category" for 10USD a night in India (Jaipur near pink city) so this was not what I should pay for what you actually get. I had to ask about 3 times to get linen as there was none on arrival and when I got it it was really low grade faded items.The rooms are not cleaned daily so you have to clean as you go along.The aircon kept on getting cut off due to power failure so the heat was an issue. Wi-fi also had intermittent usage. No dirt bins in the room for your rubbish. The shared shower/ toilet situation is a nightmare. No hot water regularly. The shower/toilets are not cleaned by staff and the guests surely don't care about their hygiene so the dirt and smell persists. I have seen other rooms in the same area in other hostels much cheaper with much more to offer. Everything is overpriced in the hotel (food in restaurant compared to other places with a variety on the menu, you get less on exchange rates etc...) I think this place is way overpriced but as mentioned the staff are very helpful so that is a plus. I would say shop around if you have time. I really did not think this place was worth the cost.

Liked: - Staff are helpful and responsible (with sufficient communication before your arrival through emails)- Free wi-fi

Disliked: - Staff in rooftop restaurant are not very polite and helpful - Wi-fi is not available in the room (I stayed on 4th floor), but available in ground floor - Though direction signs of the hostel are put along the road guiding travellers to come from main streets to the hostel, still a bit difficult to locate the hostel - Streets right outside the hostel are dirty, so it is tough to walk through the way to hostel

Liked: Basically (as they will explain) you start from the bottom up, bottom floor just beds top floor, TV , doubke bed, AC and all the frills. Prices vary accordingly.As the Golden temple is around the corner, there are alot of helpful police that can show you the huge signs that you may have missed overhead.

Disliked: basic means: 2 beds, no room to swing a hamster. (but... Varanasi is not a place to stay in bed)

Liked: this was extremely good value for money and after we found the hotel, it was very easy and well located. the rooms were pretty warm but for the price no problem. pretty clean although sheets and pillows not so much so take your own stuff if you can... restaurant upstairs is great and live music in the evenings. really close to the main ghat and a german bakery as well as some great little stalls in the market! generally a good place!
