Introduction--Monu Family Paying Guest House is situated right in the epicentre of the old town of Varanasi.It is run by an Indian family. As you are staying with a family you won't become home sick and you will never get bored here. You are most welcome to stay with us in our house.

Our house is old- the old Kashi Vishwanath temple was destroyed in 1669 by Aurangzeb. The current structure is believed to have been built by Maharani Ahilya Bai Holkar of Indore in 1780. Our house is believed to have been built in the 1700's.

The guest house is full of different colours. All the walls of house are colourful and nicely decorated. We have tried to make our rooms like your room at home, your 'pad'.

All our family are outgoing and friendly. That is just our nature. Our rooms are not like hospital rooms or like a box. They each posess character. We have a rooftop where you can sit at sunset time and take tea in privacy. You can watch the sun go down over the city.

Sometimes, on special occassions, we can organise Indian classical music concerts on the rooftop. As we are very near to the ghats and the famous Golden Temple you can see many small Indian temples around our house. It is the oldest corner of the Holy city of Varanasi, Kashi, the City of Light.

Music and Language Courses:

As teaching is our family tradition,so we provide music lessons of Sitar, Tabla, Flute, Harmonium, Flute etc and we also sell all kinds of Indian musical Instruments. We also offer Hindi language and Cookery courses in our house.If you have a day or two, please don't forget to have some cultural experience with us.

Accommodation Information

We have 2 single rooms with shared bath and traditional loo. 2 double rooms each with attached shower and western loo, 1 premium room with attached shower and western loo.

All together there are 8 beds and 3 comfortable floor sofas.

Hot and cold shower, back up electricity, water coolers in the summer, blankets, towels, bedsheet and other articles in the room are all included in price.

Location Information

Monu Guest House is located very near to the famous Golden Temple and the main ghats.
Now your target is the famous Golden Temple street called the Vishwanath Gali or the Tripura Bhairavi Gali "Lane" they both will bring you at our place.

Our street is called "Kalika Gali". We are up an alleyway so it's not that easy to find us, but once you get to the city center near the famous Ghat called Dashashwamedh Ghat (main ghat) you can easily find your way. We are 5 or 6 minutes slightly uphill until you find the Golden Temple.
