The first hotel in this locality with almost 50 years in the service of the discerning traveler. It is located just about 50 mtrs. away from the Howrah Station, which is the busiest railway station of the cultural city of Kolkata.

The building is a heritage structure over 125 years old. Brought from a Britisher from the erstwhile East India Company by a wealthy and influential Hindu trader who got the title of Rai Bahadur from the British for his exceptional services.It was his personal residence, until the present owner brought it from him and converted it into a Hotel.

Tiles were imported from Britain and marble from Italy, still stands despite the passage of time carefully maintained by the present owner.

It is also heard The Mahatma had paid a visit to the old owner at this very place in one of his trips to Calcutta.

Not to the taste of many, but it’s an old world charm, people looking for nostalgia, do like it !

You can take a photo of the Howrah Bridge from the Hotel, but not from the Bridge itself.

Four movies have been filmed in the hotel - Bollywood and Tollywood, perhaps the only hotel in the locality to have such an achievement.

The hotel is very close to the Holy River Ganges, the airport and the shopping centers are at a convenient distance.

Howrah Train Station is just 50 meters, which is the busiest railway station of the cultural city of Kolkata and perhaps the whole of India.

....and guess what we have been recommended by Lonely Planet, 2007 edition, as a decent hotel, in this locality, for nothing!

All Double, Triple, Four, Quadra bedded rooms have double height ceilings.

On an average our Single bedded rooms are around 50 sq ft., Double bedded rooms are 175 sq ft, four bedded rooms are 325 sq ft. and Quadra around 500 sq ft.

We have renovated many rooms are continuously renovating, upgrading others, adding new features in the rooms keeping in mind the overall ambiance.

A couple of rooms still have the original tiles up to the ceiling, Italian marble and Burma Teak doors.
