Liked: the hostel is run by an extremelty friendly family, who do their utmost to ensure you enjoy your stay as much as possible. the original reason we stayed here was for the camel safari into the thar desert which was recommeneded on india rough guides. we went on the one day one night tour and werent disappointed, the first part being spent with Jita, the owner manager tour guide etc. who is a zoooligist and very knowledgable on all aspects of the desert. I highly recommend staying here if you come to bikaner especially if your doing a safari

Liked: Mr.Jitu and family take all efforts to make sure that guests are comfortable. Our stay was excellent. Since we had gone on our bikes, it was good to see that the property had secure parking available. Even though we had to leave early morning at 5:30am, Mr.Jitu arranged for excellent, hot tea. Very kind of him indeed! I would definitely recommend Vinayak Guest House to anyone who is visiting Bikaner.

Liked: Vinayak is one of the best place we stayed at during our Indiatrip. The family was so helpful, looking after us and offering water and food at all times. The place felt safe and it was easy to come and go as you liked. We didnt go on the camelsafari although Ive heard its really good, but the owner arranged a car to drive us to see the camelfarm and the Kari Mata tempel with a bit of guiding.Great place!

Disliked: Uhm, I cant think of anything....

Liked: Jitu & his family were very friendly & welcoming. His knowledge of desert wildlife was second to none. I'd say even the official guide at Ranthambore National Park didnt know as much about fauna & animals as Jitu! The camel safari he arranged was super and unlike Kulri (near Jaisalmer) the desert village he showed us was charming, full of lovely people & was little touched by tourism. After all the usual scams in India, it was so refreshing to find someone so honest- for example, he told us there is no point doing 2-day safari because although he gets more money, we wont see anymore than a 1-day trip. Highly recommended!

Liked: Helpful owner and friendly family Easy place to meet people with a sociable atmosphere Good location, but doesn't pay comission to rich shaws

Disliked: Hard bed could have been better, hot water needs to be collected with a bucket from a central heater....but for the price you really can't complain as the benefits far outweight these minor inconveniences.

Liked: My stay at Vinayak was the best experience I've had with hostels in India so far. The property is a small family-owned compound in a quiet neighborhood that's a short walk to the fort. The owner Jitu is a PhD student who offers camel eco-tours, but he did not push the tours at all. In fact, Jitu was extremely helpful in letting me know what's available to see in Bikaner without trying to sell me anything-- very refreshing after my experience in India so far! When my sandals broke, Jitu even lent me his wife's shoes to wear into town so that I could get mine fixed! The family is very nice and helpful and offer thali dinners upon request. The most remarkable thing about the property and my room is how CLEAN it is. This was on par with what I'd expect from a nice hotel in the US! Fantastic experience. I'd recommend it to anyone!

Disliked: no complaints whatsoever!

Liked: Jitu and his family are wonderful. They are honest, care so much about the guests and are open to share their knowledge and culture with you. Jitu is a zoologist by trade and cares deeply about the animals of the desert. His safari ws so interesting and helpful, and it was great being with someone who knew and really cared about what he was teaching. His family is wonderful too-his father works for a really intersting NGO called Urmul Trust and knows so much about the area. The safari was great and he even took me and other guests to his friends' wedding-which was amazing! Totally recommended........really great people.

The night included a free pick up wich was great for us because we arrived in the middle of the night. The Hotel has a nice small garden and we felt very safe because the garden gate were locked over night. But the best of all was the family! Everybody was very nice and helpful to us. They offered us the possibility to ring them out all night in case of any problems and were always there for questions and needs!great!

Liked: The rooms and outside eating area are very basic but clean. You need to collect your own hot water from outside. The main reason to stay here is for the fantastic day trip the owner will organise for you - we were taken to a small village and really saw the lifestyles of the people 1st hand, ( at no time did this feel commercial or touristy) We did a camel safari and went to the rat temple.

Liked: Vinayek puts the meaning of "guesthouse" back in the name. This has probably been one of the best places we have stayed in our 7 months of traveling. He makes you feel a part of the family, you meet other guests during meal times, and the location is down a quieter street near the fort. We also went on a 2 day camel/jeep safari with Jitu--remote locations, saw wildlife, stayed with a local family, and Jitu also is trying a little eco-tourism by giving back to the families. Well-done. Jen and Mark Shepard

The hosts are very friendy and helpfull. They have proposed me to go on a camel safari which was one of the best experience I had in India.
