Liked: Quiet.

Disliked: My balance was EUR 29.70 on arrival. I bought 1 towel (EUR 5), and 1 linen (EUR 5). I had to pay EUR 47. Not Really correct.

Liked: The staff was very friendly and helpful. Everything seemed to be in pretty good condition - not immaculate, but not dirty either. In general, I felt pretty safe, and for the amount that I paid, I think it was more than reasonable. I'd recommend staying here if you're really on a budget.

Disliked: The main dislike is that it's a bit out of the way. It's about a 20-30 minute walk to the city center, which for when I was there (late August), was not that bad - mild weather, safe neighborhood, etc. - but I can understand how it's not optimal. No lockers to store away valuables, but the room and premises felt safe anyway.

Liked: The chef and the dinner was great (not included) The price is cheap but not for what you get. Free internet.

Disliked: I booked (and paid) a 4 bed room, and got there to find out there only a 14 mix dom was available. The guy at the reception just said to go to look something else... irony is not that helpful, it was raining and the city was full. Anyway, he later gave me a blanket cause, of course, the rooms are SLEEPING BAG rooms, even if it doesn´t say on the site. You may book on this site and then find out that you don´t have a room, as I did. PAY A LITTLE more and STAY SOMEWHERE else. There are plenty of hostels for 5 euros more in downtown, some with breakfast and blankets included. The place is also really far away from the city center, and security is null, all rooms are open all day, and nobody controls who is in or out of the hostel.

Liked: The place is very cheap compared to other accommodation in Reykjavik. The kitchen is large and has everything you need.

Disliked: I was put in a 12-people room (and didn't even get a key) although I booked a bed in the 8-people room. I was not able to lock my valuables and thus had to carry them around with me the entire time (and since they only had 6 keys for the 12-people room, the room was always open). The hostel is pretty far off and particularly at night not easily reachable - as a girl I wouldn't want to walk down the streets by myself. The toilets and shower facilities became dirty during the day quite quickly (there are very few for a large number of guests). The TV room is really only a corner where everyone walks through to their rooms - not particularly cozy.

Liked: No one stole my things, but this was just luck--the staff refused to secure my laptop or passport.

Disliked: Nothing. The laundry machine was broken the whole time, the women's shower drain was clogged the whole time, and the food was disgusting--very cheap and you could tell it was old. The website is a lie.

Liked: The price

Disliked: The staff were rude, although I booked three months in advance they misbooked the dates. I had to a argue for a bed event though I had a reservation confirmation for the correct dates.

Liked: Amazing place to stay. Thank you to all the wonderful people there for making my stay incredible. Also special kudos to the chef, as the food is delicious and cheap comared to other restaurants. Try the lamb!

Disliked: It was a bit farther from the main city than other hostels

Liked: The staff are very friendly and helpful, they made it feel like a home away from home. The self contained kitchen is good as well.

Disliked: It is to far out of town!! The rent out bikes and scooters which is handy but obviously not ideal, if you are renting a car then no problems. The bathrooms are uni-sexed which didn't faze me, however there are only 2 showers and they are seperated by a glass wall, so you would have to lock the main entrance door to the showers and shower one at a time. The food they had available wasn't that great either and very over-priced. I would not stay there again.

Liked: Quiet during the weekends (not near nightlife so noise isnt a problem). All the tour companies do drop off an pick up from this hostel, so if you are planning on just doing tours in Iceland this place works out perfectly.

Disliked: Very far from the city centre (45 minute walk) and mostly older people stayed here

Liked: it was comfortable, costumer friendly and had a good kitchens the costumers could use.

Disliked: in the girls showers, in order to use the showers in private you had to lock the main toilet's door, meaning other girls would not be able to use the toilet if someone is using the showers.

Disliked: Küche war etwas spärlich eingerichtet. Zudem keine sauberen Küchentücher!

Liked: The owner went above and beyond to help out with everything we needed including making reservations at local restaurants, providing directions and instructions on how to use the bus system; even helping with a load of laundry as we were travelling with a group of Girl Guides and had been on the road for over two weeks.

Disliked: The dorm style bedrooms had a large shared showering room with 5 shower heads but no stalls for privacy so the girls all showed one at a time. Otherwise the showers were very good in terms of providing sufficient pressure and hot water.

Disliked: It's a bit far to the city center. If you come by plane, take the flybus to the center en get a drop-off in front off the hostel (not discribed in the information on the hostel site)
