Smaratun Guesthouse

Smáratún Guesthouse is located by road 261, about 13 km from the town Hvolsvöllur in South part of Iceland. We are near Eyjafjallajökull volcano. We can see smoke and steam comeing from the volcano during day and red light from the eruption during night. Beautyful sight to see.

Smáratún is an excellent starting point for daily car excursions to many famous places in Southern Iceland such as Þingvellir, Fjallabaksleið, Þórsmörk and Emstrur, the waterfalls Seljarlandsfoss, Skógafoss, Gullfoss and not to mention Geysir. From the airport at Bakki you have the opportunity to take a small plane to Heimaey Island in the Vestman Islands for a day trip there and back. At Smáratún is a horse rental during the summertime and the nearest golf course is in about 1 km distance from Smáratún.

Smáratún has 7 double rooms Ensuite open all year. All the bedrooms have a TV, a big closet, a desk etc. and they all have a bathroom with a shower. Each bedroom is about 22 sqm. In the price, bed linen and breakfast is included.

Smáratún also has 4 double rooms with shared bathroom and shared living room with a television. The bedrooms are from 6-9 sqm. In the price, bed linen and breakfast is included.

Two Chalets are available at Smáratún. Each chalet is 15 sqm and has a bed for 4 persons, a double bed and two bunk beds. In each chalet, there is a bathroom with a shower, minimum cooking facility and a TV. Bed linen and breakfast is not included in the price.

One cottage is available at Smáratún. The cottage is 40 sqm, registered for 6 persons. It has two bedrooms, each with 3 beds, one double bed and one single bunk bed. It has a fully equipped kitchen, TV, a bathroom with a shower, out door grill and a hot tub. Bed linen and breakfast is not included in the price.
