The hostel’s location makes us a perfect option when choosing a place to stay in the Capital of Northern Iceland, Akureyri. Our hostel is surrounded by restaurants and coffee houses and in our tourist hub you can plan the adventure of your dreams.

Right in the middle of Akureyri down town you will find our brand new hostel and a travel hub, Akureyri Backpackers. We are the latest member of the Iceland Backpackers family now located in Akureyri and Reykjavík. We offer you a cheap and a lively place to base in while you explore the Northern part of Iceland.
You can chill in the hostel’s bar while accessing a free Wi-Fi, meet other travelers or plan and book your next adventure in our travel hub. All our rooms come with kitchen access were you can prepare light meals or lunch pack for the day.

Accommodation Information

Akureyri Backpackers has three types of dorms available, four, six and eight beds were 88 happy travelers can rest. On the fourth floor we have seven private rooms with 14 beds, upon request we can provide extra beds in the private rooms. We provide bed sheets and pillows and all our rooms are equipped with a reading lights. Hot showers are available 24 hours along with our cozy sauna.

Akureyri Backpackers are located in the town’s center surrounded by coffee houses and restaurants. We are 3,2km from the domestic airport and 180m from the Akureyri church. The Akureyri swimming pool is in less than 0,5 km distance and close by you’ll find the Botanical Garden were you can find the complete Icelandic flora. Our next door neighbour is the famous live music club The Green Hat.
Akureyri Backpackers is an ideal base when you’re exploring Northern Iceland. It’s only stone’s throw away from the Diamonds of the North, beautiful Myvatn, Asbyrgi, Godafoss and the terrifying Dettifoss. For the adventures we recommend attraction as rafting in Skagafjordur or caving in Myvatnssveit.
