Liked: The room and bathroom were both clean and there was enough space (wardrobe) to store your stuff - even a table and two chairs in the room. No real kitchen, but you can heat up food in the microwave, and boil water. Plus plates, knives and forks are provided. You can eat in the common room, which has a TV. The owners speak German perfectly and are very hearty people, who are reliable and punctual. The location is close to the castles park and easy to find (but not very central.)

Disliked: The beds in the double room were two separated ones and you were not allowed (penalty: 5000 Forint) to push them together as a double bed, even though you would usually expect a double bed in a double room. The Wi-fi didn't work.

Liked: Staff member there was really helpful although she didn't speak a lot of english. Clean, close to the palace. I seem to remember it was pretty cheap.

Disliked: I was the only one in my room, probably one of the only people in the hostel. As a girl on my own I was pretty freaked out the first night there. No staff in the hostel itself ( there is a cafe nearby which they also own) Absolutely no atmosphere although maybe the season was over. There seemed to be rudimentary kitchen facilities but you have to ask to use them. A fair walk to get here from the station (half an hour). Also you had to pay to use internet after first 15 mins. Stay for the bed but nothing else!!

Liked: The location is absolutely ideal - right next to the Festetics castle. It's also a two-minute's walk to the bus stop to Heviz.

Disliked: Nothing really.

Liked: The staff were incredibly friendly at this hostel, making you feel really welcome. For £4 a day they also rent bikes out to you which is great for cycling around the lake or visiting the thermal lake in Heviz. It's a great hostel, really modern and clean.

Disliked: I was pleased with everything.

Liked: We had an apartment to ourselves, which had most things that we needed. The staff were friendly and did their best to help us. The location was good, and we felt secure here. It was quiet except for our last night when a large group arrived and took over a bit.

Disliked: It was low season when we stayed and because the reception isn't always open at this time we did have some problems contacting the hostel prior to our stay. My partner hated the shower because it wasn't high up enough on the wall and the showerhead kept falling off - we aren't particularly tall either so this could be annoying. We also paid to hire towels, these were tiny so take your own!

Liked: We had an apartment for 2. Behind a cafe-restaurant, in the backyard, right next to the castle and near the city centre and bus stop (to Heviz thermal lake too). Very clean, very comfortable beds, TV and small kitchenette, quiet location with garden to sit outside.

Disliked: No towels in the bathroom as they are extra fee and you have to ask for them when checking-in. The kitchen equipment is really basic but OK for breakfast. The cafe was closed on Wednesdays so no possibility to leave our luggage there on the next morning - but we had just a small backpack so no problem for us but could be a problem if you have a lot of bags!

Liked: nuit reposante et securisante mais manque une cuisine commune pour rencontrer autres voyageurs !

Disliked: J'ai apprecie le calme mais le lieu n'est pas tres chaleureux car manque d'une vraie cuisine commune. L'auberge offre un nuit reposante et securisante.

Liked: Very clean hostel with about a 20 minute walk into centre. We were a group of 5 and had a very new clean room with an en-suite but due to the private rooms and lack of communal area didn't meet any other guests. This was fine for us though as we were in a big group.

Liked: The hostel was extremely clean and in a good location near the centre of the town. However, it is not a good place to meet fellow travellers as most people wer using Kesthely as a stop over. I would recommend the hostel itself but not the town - it is very dull and boring with nothing to do!

Liked: We stayed in a double and got really good value for money. The double rooms are a bit 'motel' like and the accommodation is basic but everything is ok and clean. It 's a quiet place, though close to the castle and the city centre. Very friendly staff. I would recommend the place.

Liked: Friendly owner who speaks a little English. Only a few minutes walk from the palace and main tourist street. Not a great place for meeting people- perhaps more of a guesthouse than a hostel- but the rooms are clean and I would recommend it.

Liked: Laundry costs 1000 forints, which does not include a dryer or any place to dry your clothes.. Staff is friendly but doesn't speak much English.
