Liked: The place itself is awesome!! It has a lot of character and all the staff there (MACHINES!!!) are a hundred percent committed to their guests having a good time!!! If you wanna go crazy and wild and meet other crazy people, this is the good place to be!!!

Disliked: What did I dislike? Hmmm lemme see... THE FACT THAT I ONLY STAYED HERE FOR LESS THAN 16 HOURS!!!! :P

Liked: The best thing about Retox is definitely the staff. They're always happy to help out and make the place feel like a family home and not just a bunch of random people staying in one place. The activities on offer are definitely worth doing and the bar downstairs is cheap! You meet up and party with all the sister hotels every night so you get to know a lot more people than just those staying in your room. All in all it is the best hostel I have ever stayed in and highly recommend it. Shout out to Boris the cabbage also!

Liked: The staff are energetic and want everyone to be included in all activities which is great for the atmosphere of the place. Surprisingly for a partying hostel the beds a cumfy as hell and are generally easy enough to get a good night sleep unless a room party kicks off in your room. The star wars themed trivia nights were also a good laugh!

Disliked: The staffs knowledge of the place. There are so many cool bars and places to visit in Budapest but the staff seem hell bent on sending you to places that have an exclusively Australian clientel. Good hostel for partying, but if you don't like Aussie bogans and people that overuse the term 'old mate' and 'so loose bro' as a form of witty banter, would definitely recommend to stay somewhere else. But if you are up for a party destination where it is a magnet for 18-21 yr old mainly Aussie party goers most likely from the same areas back home in Australia and feel comfortable not learning a thing about Budapest, then this is definitely the place! The parties they do run are a fun way to meet everyone in the hostel especially for those who are solo travellers, just don't be expecting to meet any locals or other nations.

Liked: retox is awesome. the people that work there are awesome. they always have events going on. if i didnt have to go back home for a final exam i would have stayed for much longer. sick time, will be back.

Liked: Is purely a party hostel. Lives up to that. Easy to get involved. Staff try their best to get you involved. Always heaps and heaps of stuff to do so you're bound to meet at least a few people you can go drinking with and get involved with the hostel nights boozey events.

Disliked: it is PURELY a party hostel. I've stayed at other party hostels where you party just as hard but that were more fun because of a slightly better overall balance between drinking and everything else you can do in a foreign city . Would be funner to go to Retox with a group of lads I think than rather than as a solo traveller as when I was there it attracted a lot of repeat visitors and medium term stayers which makes it feel a little bit less inclusive than it probably should be... mAY have just been something that was occuring when I was there but i suspect its a hostel that will generally have a good % of 'locals' that can be a bit intimidating as the staff are really part of that same crew. Security was rubbish so don't take anything for granted but is all good if you lock your stuff up., I think the sister hostels are probably slightly better, carpe noctem I know for sure is.

Liked: This place insane! Do not come here if you don't like to party. The open air bar in the middle of the building is the coolest idea ever and works so well for a hostel like this.

Disliked: I didn't do any sightseeing in budapest because of retox.,

Liked: Retox is one of the most fun hostels I have stayed at. Each night there is a different party led by the staff including the three other party hostels. Just don't expect them to be relaxing nights out. you party like there is no tomorrow, meet amazing people, and will never want to leave. Retox has an amazing bar/restaurant downstairs decorated by some of the best Hungarian street artists. The staff is always hanging out with the guests, and is available to give you hints about this city. Can't wait to go back to Retox!

Disliked: They need more mirrors.

Liked: Was the best hostel I have stayed in. Staff were fantastic, other travelers were friendly, great location, activities on offer (didn't do any day ones cos the night ones were so crazy), cheap bar with good food, great value for money and great all round atmosphere.

Disliked: There is nothing I disliked, however this place may not be nice for people who aren't up for partying as it may be too noisy, crazy, etc

Liked: Can't not have fun here! As soon as I arrived the staff did a wonderful job of making me feel welcomed and included, making sure I had a drink in hand and encouraging me to go out on the bar crawl. Was a great atmosphere, infectious for partying! Love the check in/out anytime policy, and the energy of it all. Staff were happy to help out with anything. Great bar, and set up of the building, great location, felt totally safe and secure, great to meet people. And I loved the club sandwiches!!!

Disliked: No air-con and it was verrry hot when I stayed, I would maybe consider finding somewhere else if it was 35 degrees again if I went back...

Liked: Really nice bar and although there were 14 people in our dorm, there was plenty enough space for everyone.

Disliked: Although I really like partying, the hostel focuses too much on certain kind of people, which one feels comfortable with and others might not. We belonged to the latter one.

Disliked: pretty disorganised, safeboxes could be broken into with minimal difficulty

Liked: Brilliant location and even better staff. No hostel could compare to the awesome might of Retox. If you are looking to have a good time in Budapest, you MUST stay here.
