Free internet access, free breakfast, close to shops. When you first arrived, she gave a really detailed description of the places of interest and how you could get there best and times to go.

The staff at this hostel were amazing! They are happy to advise you about the city, and there is always a good breakfast and really nice coffee on offer! The hostel is smaller and quiter than many, but that adds to its character and we made some great friends. The location, right on the main chain-bridge, is stunning. It was the best hostel of our trip!

This is the absolute gem of a hostel that backpackers die for.
The staff are extremely helpful - anything and everything you need they will help you out!
Plus the hostel is located in a really old building at the top of a flight of stairs that looks like it came straight out of a James Bond chase sequence! Perfect for Budapest.
Pretty good central location. But remember that Budapest is pretty big so don't be expecting to walk to everything.

We stayed there only for two nights. But it was a lovely place with friendly anf helpfull staff. Also the toiletts and the showers were very clean.
The Hostel is situated in the heart of Budapest, so it's no problem to reach the main sightseeing - and party places.
If you ever go to Budapest, and you are looking for a quite Hostel, feel free to go to Vamhez, it might be not the cheapest, but it's one of the best!

Vamhaz is unlike any other hostel I've stayed in - if you want something with a little bit of character, I'd recommend it. Extremely informal. The best thing about it is the building - incredible faded grandeur on the outside and staircase - very beautifully refurbished on the inside, with wonderful, huge antique furniture, and very high ceilings. The coffee is excellent, and the staff give you a personalised talk through a map of the city, just to get you started. They also provide free popcorn and snacks when you're watching films in the evening.
One drawback - lots and lots and lots of stairs to get there in the first place - not for the disabled.

I really liked the open friendliness of the hostel. The staff were more than helpful and it felt like home. Receiving coffee from the girls first thing in the morning was great.

This was by far one of my favorite hostel experiences in europe. This is by no means a 'party central' hostel - due to its location. however, it was constantly a calm and yielding enivronment where i could both rest as well as relax if i got exhausted from walking in town or the weather turned sour. the staff is absolutely wonderful and engaging. They want you to enjoy Budapest and do not hesitate to steer you in a good direction if ever looking for options. i would return here with enthusiasm.

One member of staff (Karin) was very very helpful - going out of her way to help us plan where to go, making us really good coffee and encouraging everyone to socialise.

The staff are outstanding here, we were shown round Budapest ona map without even asking, a great help.
Only unbonus is the flight of stairs!! Don't do it witha large suitcase!

We had an apartment and it was really big with a kitchen so we spent more money by having an apartment but saved heaps on food as I was able to cook - top stuff!
