Liked: I loved that it didn't feel like a hostel, just a bunch of people hanging out and wanting to have a good time! I was a solo traveler so the social atmosphere of Carpe was very suitable! The people were friendly as and as soon as you start chillen out it feels like you have known one another forever. in regards to other comments about the cleanliness of the hostel... the hostel is cleaned in terms of a hostel... Carpe was PUUUURRRRFECT! you're an idiot if you don't stay there : )

Disliked: I didn't dislike anything about the property....

Liked: Carpe Noctem is the cherry on top of the scrumptious cake that is Budapest. The hostel is a destination in its own right and is perfect for those who want to meet some awesome people and partayy it up. The legendary staff take you out every single night to some wicked places and will always have a blast with you and laugh at all the bad jokes that you make . The place feels just like a mate's apartment than you can hang out in anytime. I travelled all the way across Austria just to come back to Budapest for a few extra days to revel in the awesomeness that is Carpe noctem! Love you guys, your best mate (whether you like it or not) O.D.D xx

Liked: I like being around happy and positive people. I like living in a relaxed and interesting environment. I like to have fun and have my own unique experiences. This hostel was able to fulfill my wants and needs better than anywhere in Europe. After 6 months of living in different cities I have never once changed my itinerary because I enjoyed a hostel to this level. My original two day booking has turned into a two week stay. Who knows when I am going to leave... Come and join my adventure :)

Disliked: Will and Demi won't get out of my seat on the couch and I'm hungry slash thirsty.

Liked: Words cannot describe how incredible Carpe Noctem is. The staff, the guests, the facilities, the atmosphere, the location -- it is everything an ideal hostel should be and more. Carpe Noctem has an international reputation for being the best of the best. But I don't think one can fully comprehend how fun and welcoming this place is until they have experienced it firsthand. Because the hostel only sleeps 22 guests, you feel like you are part of a family. Walking into the common room at any time of day is similar to walking into your friend's living room. I have met some of the most amazing people at Carpe Noctem, both staff and guests, and I am thankful to have them in my life. If you're visiting Budapest, there is no other place you should stay. For the best experience, come to Carpe Noctem.

Liked: There's always something to do, pretty good vibe about the place. Relaxed about check-out/check-in etc. They feed you for next to nothing and are very encouraging about heading out on social events (every night)

Disliked: You're allowed to smoke inside, which is hell if you're a hung-over non-smoker. I think they could possibly discourage some of the long-stay/volunteer staff types from staying so long too. These people undo the good work done by the actual staff members. The long stayers make it a bit cliquey, so you're a bit of an outsider when you first arrive.

Liked: The bed is decent and it's not too clean but it isn't filthy. I don't have much to say other than I didn't feel very comfortable here, as a party hostel I would have expected them to be friendlier and other guests to be more open to meeting new people, there were sort of "cliques" so I couldn't really fit into any of the groups and they didn't really party, they just drank until they got wasted and went back to sleep, that's not a party to me, so I ended up coming back early the first night and not even bothering to go out the second night which kind of blew. PS: they serve cheap food but the portions are really small and the food is cheap (pretty good anyway)

Disliked: It does not have a hair drier for you to borrow, which honestly was the first time this happened to me. It's not incredibly clean, there is a smoking area INSIDE! And it is SO incredibly laid back it borders on neglected. However, if you're looking for cheap accommodation and getting wasted on a daily basis, this might be the place for you.

Liked: the atmosphere, staff are really friendly, you can pay for cheap home cooked meals, offers heaps of advice on what to do in budapest, has activites planned for every day and night, meet up with people from other hostels as well at night

Disliked: boiys and girls had to share bathrooms, and there was only 2 showers and 2 toilets.

Liked: The staff are amazing, as soon as you get there they introduce you to the other guests and give you a map and show you how to get to all the places. Each night the staff take you out to great places to drink and show you an amazing time, as a single traveller it was a great way to meet new people.

Disliked: Nothing, it was a great place to stay at.

Liked: This is by far the best place I have ever stayed! The staff is so helpful and fun and relaxed. The atmosphere is so great and it seems to attract the best crowd of people. There are excellent events organized for you by the staff...including excellent parties! Theres and option of group meals, but you are nice and close ot a lot of great places if you want to go out. Very close to train station and a nice walk from the river & the main sights. I loved it so much there that I ended up doubling the length of my stay (& the staff were super helpful about making this happen)!

Disliked: There is no sign out front (because it is a historic building & they're not allowed to put one up) and the staircase isn't very well lit...basically it seems a little sketchy when you first show up, but it is the best place you will ever stay at once you get there!

Liked: Very Friendly staff. Had a fun time in Budapest and had no problem in travelling to any part of city from there and then hitting bed at Carpe Noctem... Will stay there again if in Budapest.

Disliked: Its in third floor with no lift and light on the staircases are not really good.

Liked: Where to start? Suze, Ian, Juice, Stelle, Will are the most Cracking Hostel Crew!! Torpedo races, Unicum, beanbag chillen, daily sandwiches for life!! Every guest knows each others name within the hour and we all hang out together + go drinking every night together as one big family. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND this hostel!! Wake up drunk go to sleep fucked up! LFG Carpe Noctem! | K-DoGG

Liked: Super welcoming, you recieve a new family upon entry. Next time I'm in Budapest, I'll be back. The description promised a good time, and good times were delivered in full, every night.

Liked: Carpe Noctum is more a family than a hostel, everybody is really friendly and you are introduced to other travellers as soon as you arrive so you feel at home from the beggining!! the staff are really helpful and friendly and take you to a range of different places in the evening which are always really good fun!! it has great cooking facilities, but the food in the surrounding areas are really cheap too!! :) if you are looking for an atmosphere and a party then this is the place to go!! the staff also help with daytime recommendations such as the baths which are amazing!! you really do feel at home here, with tea at anytime of the day and the chance to bumble around in your pj's when you are hungover!! would definitely stay again and would say that everybody should stay at carpe!! :)

Liked: Great atmosphere, clean bed and bathrooms, awesome staff- they are very welcoming and get you involved and meeting new friends from the get go. There's something on every night so you won't ever be bored.

Disliked: If you don't smoke, be aware that the smoking 'room' is actually the hall, so the smoke goes into your room, sticks to your clothes and you go to sleep with the smell of smoke.

Liked: The property is well located, close to Nuygati station. The staff is very welcoming and makes you feel at home. They always have something going on, each night of the week. If you don't know too many people in Budapest, do go to this hostel, as they'll make you feel part of the community.

Liked: Found this hostel to be more of an extended family/community than just a bed. Excellent for single travellers because of its warm, friendly and inviting atmosphere. Found all staff and guests very social, helpful and friendly.

Liked: This is my second stay at Carpe and I highly recommend this hostel to all! I will stay at this hostel anytime I am in Budapest! One of the main reasons for my return to Budapest was the friendly, personal, fun an amazing experience at Carpe! This crew will go out of your way to make your stay amazing! They know everything and will take you out for the best nights out!! The atmosphere in the hostel is more like staying at a friends house and ideal for meeting new lifelong friends!
