Liked: Good location and clean rooms

Disliked: annoying people trying to sell you watched and suits, as well as drug dealers out the front. Be prepared to wait upto 20 minutes to get into the lift. This guest house is on the 11th floor so not really accessible by stairs.

Liked: the lady who greeted us at reception was cheery and helpful, and on hand to answer questions and offer advice.

Disliked: I have no particular complaint about New International Guesthouse. The rooms were small and basic, which is exactly what I expected for one of the cheapest places to stay in Kowloon. Rooms were clean and we were given fresh linen and towels daily. The problem is the building the guesthouse is in. Chung King mansions 'A' block is a dirty hell hole, a fire trap, and a skid mark on the underpants of Hong Kong. It contains tens of other budget accommodations, and numerous other businesses, and certainly accommodates hundreds, if not thousands of people each day. YOU DO NOT WANT TO BE IN THIS BUILDING IN CASE OF FIRE Be prepared to regularly climb up and down 11 stories of putrid, rubbish filled stairs if you cant be bothered waiting for 10 or 15 minutes for the single lift that serves the guesthouse floor, amongst the shifty touts and sheisters that hang out on the ground floor level. Who ever owns this building is a pig and ought to be ashamed.

Liked: First its location is right there were the shopping and harbor sites are. Also, the hotel itself has upgraded itself in terms of security and cleanliness. However , the ground floor environment and other floors do not make one feel so secure.

Liked: Very good location Friendly staff Bedsheets fairly clean

Disliked: The hostel is located in a very crowded building.You need to take a lift to 11th floor and there's a queue for the lift because only 2 lifts serve 15 floors. We spent on average 10 to 15min waiting each time we want to go up. The ensuite toilet in our room was dirty and had a clogged drain. And the WC was dripping water the whole night and it kept us up... Furthermore, we could hear a man in the adjacent room speaking on the phone for a long time and though he wasn't really speaking very loudly we could hear every word. Floor was not clean. Some used toiletries were kept on a ledge just outside our room. The blanket was not very clean but it was really cold so we had to use it. We checked out of the hostel a day early because we couldn't tolerate the dirt.

Liked: The room is nice and fits for us, since we're travelling as a family. Room was clean and safety is assured. Wifi is easily accessed and we can surf the web from our room. Very nice! The staff were hospitable and they made us comfortable with the place. The hotel was located near transportation areas that made our place to place travelling easy. Shops, MTR and pier were just near the hotel. We met some kababayans in the hotel and some foreigners. The price is just right!

Disliked: Elevators were slow and using the stairs are tiring. The stairs are sometimes dirty.

Liked: the lady who ran the hostel was very nice and helpful explained how to get to places and provided us with maps. The location is great very central, there were lots of other hostels around but the ground floor fo teh building was a bit dodgy, and there are a lot of men trying to sell things but avoid these an its good!

Liked: The rooms are small but very clean, the bathroom was also a little spacious than a standard hostel in chungking mansion.

Disliked: Lobby of the chungking mansion building a bit horrible, elevator queues in block "A" longer than most other block.

Liked: Location is extremely good - right in the centre of Tsim Sha Tsui, with good links to other places. I stayed in an ensuite single - very basic, which was what I wanted, and very good value for money.

Disliked: It's very basic, and the building (Chung King Mansion) can be initially intimidating for a first time solo traveller (like myself). But I never felt completely unsafe. Also, not the best place if you want to meet fellow travellers.

Liked: I was very happy with the place as hostel by itself. The room was very clean and staff nice. They tried to help me always I needed. Good job. Thank you.

Disliked: This is place where is majority of hostels in Hong Kong. It doesnt seem like safe place, I mean area now, but you dont have to be worried in the end. The worst was waiting for elevator :))

Liked: It doesn't look like from the outside and the building is really bad, but the hostel itself is very clean and the owner very friendly. She tries very hard to make you forget that you are staying in a very crap mansion. Otherwise the location is very good, very close to everything that matters.

Disliked: The Chungking Mansion is really really bad. The first time you walk into the building you think you are in the wrong movie. I was glad that I wasn't alone, as a female on my own I woulnd't have felt very comfortable in this area especially at night.

Liked: Location is perfect, owner and staff are very nice and helpful, really clean, rooms newly refurbished

Disliked: Despite the location Chungking Mansion is not the most pleasant place to stay since you'll get offers for all kinds of hostels, services and whatever there is in the world. If you can deal with that there's not much wrong about it since the price is really good for the location.

Liked: I was not very sure about staying in a hostel - since I was with my wife and 2 young children - Even when I got into the lift - I was having apprehensions about the selection. However, I was really pleasantly surprised to see a really clean and nice room and more than that - the staff were extremely thoughtful and courteous. The hostel itself is situated in a really convinient place - Close to Train and Buses and complemented by a huge shopping district just outside the building. I was happy with the location for another reason - Food - The building itself has a lot of small eateries and they are open late into the night - that helped us get food after a long day of sightseeing etc., The hostess Ms Kim deserves special mention - She was very thoughtful and extremely helpful. She went out of her way to ensure we were comfortable and secure. Travelling with expensive electronics like laptops cameras etc., We were very well taken care of and the atmosphere was very safe and secure.Overall - This is one place, I would go to again!!

Disliked: The place is undergoing renovations - Not the guest house - but the building and that makes it a kind of eye sore from the outside. There is only one elevator to the floor and its used quite a bit - might add to a bit of wait time - though not a big deal.
