Liked: Convienient location, clean room, price and helpful and efficient guy Stephen. It was just a place to sleep for me so no frills needed. Will definitley stay again and would recomend.

Disliked: The wanna buy suits, watches, handbags, drugs and any other thing i didnt want or need "guys" down in the entrance area...

Liked: Aside from friendly staff & location, nothing that I can recommend.

Disliked: Room assigned (# M) was roughly size of a walk-in closet but did come with private bath. Door to room was a thin metal utility door more akin to what we call screen door; no sound proofing & gap over top allowed light to pass through from hallway. Bathroom sink was slightly over 12" wide & more like something you would see on a small boat or RV & the tap leaked constantly. Based on listing I expected phone in room but it was in hallway; no locker or other secure storage was in room - only a small shelf next to bed.

Liked: It is very close to downtown and several restaurants.

Disliked: Being a single woman, I wouldn't recommend booking a room in this area alone.

Liked: I stayed at their sister property, Yan Yan China House, after booking for New China Guest House, for nine days in late October. For the price, it's very hard to argue with anything offered. Chungking Mansion, described by The Economist as being like Mos Eisley Spaceport, was an incredibly accurate depiction. The Indian and Turkish food on the ground floor made the stay all the better. The bed was small for my 6'1" frame, and the room was incredibly tiny, but there was something quite satisfying about the close quarters. If you're looking for high-end, comfortable, exquisite places to lay your head, look elsewhere. If you're looking for an incredibly interesting, cheap, fun base from which to explore, I can think of no better place. And the Wifi was fast and great, which was nice.

Disliked: I saw a roach one night, but by the next morning it had been attacked and was being eaten by a spider. Mixed blessings.

Disliked: cleanliness. small elevator

Liked: price rate is very cheap and affordable specially for tourist who is mostly in town to see places such as disneyland, peak tram, macau, etc.

Disliked: bldg is in renovation, have to que up and wait for lift as it takes long time, have to bring your own personal toiletries plus alcohol for hygiene.

Liked: its location in TST close to many attractive sites

Disliked: the owner said that she had problem to inform to hostelbookers that in fact the rooms are full. I got one room which is ok for me but the bathroom is outside.

Liked: Location is great. Wifi worked well in my room and hot water was available to make noodles, coffee etc. Room was small but clean and even had a very small window.

Disliked: All the main problems people have with Chungking mansions. All in all an ok deal for Hong Kong.

Liked: Can't beat it's central Kowloon location... Chungking Mansions take some getting used to, but we really enjoyed our stay here. The staff was really friendly too

Disliked: Nothing really.. Yeah, the room is small, but you're in Hong Kong! It's good value for money

Liked: It was a quiet place away from all the craziness of the mansion. Its just a good with good WiFi and thats all you really need in Hong Kong

Liked: The owner and staff are friendly ,helpful and polite. The rooms are new and clean. The location is perfect.

Disliked: The bathroom is very small. (I know that it's normal to have very small bathroom in Hong Kong.)

Liked: Location is good, centre of Kowloon. Easily accessible from airport and good connections to mayor highlights.

Liked: It was so bad, that is was good. Never been in such a small room.

Disliked: New China Guesthouse itself, is a very small, but pleasant hostel. Its the building itself, ChungKing Mansions which is the bad part. Its horrible and it is many ways threatening, its not a nice place to stay. But there are literally hundreds of hostels on the upper floors. If your a global backpacker, then I'd recommend it purely for the gruesome photo's and tales that go along with it, otherwise, especially for people who feel intimidated in certain situations, or around certain people, I would avoid staying at any hostel in Chungking Mansions. I'd say its most comparable to a Chicago crack den back in the early 80's.

Liked: The location is wonderful. The rooms were safe, clean and had hot water.

Disliked: I know that the Chungking Mansions are not the Ritz, and on first appearance they may make you want to recoil in terror. However they aren't that bad. Just ignore everyone trying to sell you knockoff watches when you enter. We never had any problems. The rooms are small and the shower is above the toilet, but this is to be expected in budget hostels in Hong Kong. We enjoyed our stay.

Liked: Staff were really helpful and kind.

Disliked: No common room for hanging out with other guests, rooms and beds are to small (bed is from one wall to another), not enough space for your luggage in room.

Liked: - comfortable stay at the guesthouse for 10 days..thank you very much- as stated...no curfew...free wifi...free bottle mineral water..- clean towel...linen....., air con...tv...- hmm...the owner showed me personally around the room...he tested all the essential items,,.(didn't really pay attention ;p )

Disliked: - according to webby, it was stated that there was washing machine??? but i saw none... - ...hmm...not sure why but i couldn't get the hot shower switch to work one way or another...so i bathed in the cold for 10 days but is ok...i prefer cold water anyway, so no complains..just make you you double check everything inside the room before he hands the keys over to you..

Liked: Not too much

Disliked: My room smelled like smoke from the restaurant below it. I've stayed in a few sketchy hostels before, but this was probably the most insecure I've felt travelling in Asia.

Liked: Got a great rate compared to other places on the internet. Room very small but clean. Stephen, son of owner Peter, very helpful and kind. We had check-in after midnight, a little late on check-out, and they were very helpful.

Disliked: Room very tiny.

Disliked: You get what you pay. The whole Chung King Mansion looks very old and unsafe, maybe it's better than it looks.
