The very friendly and helpful local lady who was always cheerful and kept the place clean
Overview
Our mission at Base Camp Hostel is to provide beds (6 dorm, 2 private rooms) for the adventurous traveler who prefers quality over quantity.
We are where you want to be, especially now with our new breakfsat included in the price of your stay.
We look forward to meeting you!
There is quite literally more shared space than beds. We boast the best open kitchen in Antigua, well equipped for guests to use as well as a dining room and living room. We also have a cool lounge area for DVD/TV/music/library enjoyment. It feels like home.
Both the private rooms are bright spaces bathed in natural dark wood. One is simply reminded of comfort and pleasure of a mountain chalet at every turn.
The dorm is no exception; the space is truly beautiful and unique.
We operate with O.X. Outdoor Excursions and can be your base camp for adventure! What does that mean? O.X. specializes in volcano expeditions but also provides bikes, bike tours, lake tours, shuttle services and much, much more!
Accommodation Information
Camps: Our rooms are located upstairs on the second floor and provide an extra layer of privacy and security from the ground floor where the kitchen, dining / living rooms are located.
Camp 1: This is our “dorm” room with a unique twist. A beautiful room with high wood ceilings, super solid steel bunks that just do not move! You can sleep soundly and a bunk-mate might roll over above you and you will not hear or feel a thing.
Each bunk features a privacy curtain and the “high-light” is 2 high camps – check it out, you will see what we mean.
Camp 2: This room has two single beds, built-in wall shelves and a chest of drawers. The most unique feature is the circle window “captain’s quarters”, like from an old galley ship. We think it is pretty neat – so will you.
Camp 3: Simple, sweet and has a window facing west. A closet, built-in shelves and a double bed for couples or just a really BIG dude.
Location Information
We are located in the most beautiful colonial town of Guatemala, Antigua. Known for its Spanish schools and home stay scene this place has a vibrant mix of local and international culture. There are bars and restaurants on every corner.
We do have to admit, though, that shopping is not the main attraction here – the volcanoes are! Not only can you appreciate their beauty from afar but you can experience these rumbling giants up close and personal.
We are your base camp for summiting and overnight camping on Pacaya, Acatenago and Fuego Volcanoes.
