The rooms are spacious with lovely balconies and with exquisite pastoral views across rolling countryside to the distant White Mountains, the crystal water of Aegean and the old ‘Venetian Castle Aptera’
Studios are twin or triple bedded whilst the two bedroom apartments have two twins some with an extra sofa. All have basic kitchenette, all needed utensils for the kitchen, fridge and en suite toilet and shower; some have roof terraces and table fans or air-conditioning
If you prefer your breakfast al fresco, you're welcome to wander down to the rose garden terrace with the small blue tables. The smell of the roses and wild flowers will invigorate you!
At the traditional village of Kalives in the greenest district of Apokorona we have built our self-catering Club Apts & STD called “APOKOROS”. This small, A class self-catering hotel with very friendly and helpful staff, is just what you are looking for! Quietly situated on the hill Kasteli and by the sandy beach, that adjoins the small fishing harbour, it's a five minute stroll into the centre of the village.
The village has many nice ‘taverns’ (traditional restaurants) and café shops along the seaside and in the picturesque village square with the four hundred years old plane-tree. By the river there is a small traditional café with small tables and a hanging vineyard and an always cool atmosphere (because of the river) in which you can enjoy your drink. There are three beaches in Kalives. The waters are deep blue and crystal clear (there is an EC blue flag to prove it). The golden sands are deep and soft and backed by trees beneath which white benches have been placed for visitors to take full advantage of any shade. There is even a sea sport centre and behind there is a narrow road lined with small, but excellent taverns that also set out tables on the beach.
When the night falls, Kalives is not a very busy village. However, you can choose among four café bars. One is close to the sea with international music and beautiful view to the sea. The other three are close to the square beautifully decorated with nice music. The bartenders will serve you the traditional Cretan drink “raki” and many other drinks. For those who love Cretan music they can visit the restaurants which have every now and then “Cretan nights”, an unforgettable moment. All of the restaurants are nicely decorated and located either by the sea or another georaphic location. The food is based on the freshest products from the local countryside and the sea, there are also biological products. For those do not want the type of a ‘restaurant’ there are also nice fast food shops. However if you want some wild nights you can go to Chania, an easy drive from Kalives (15kil away) and choose among a variety of bars and discos’ to drink and dance until the morning.
So…Kalives, lost in the haze of legend, where your stay becomes unforgettable and endless. Where? In Crete; land of tradition, myths, and exotic beauty.
