Liked: Amazing location so close to the Acropolis and Syntagma Square. The staff were kind and passed on messages from the tour company we'd organized day trips with.

Disliked: Sound travels very easily in this hotel so bring ear plugs if you're not a very heavy sleeper.

Liked: The location is great -- it's really close to Syntagma Square and the Plaka, making it easy to get around.

Disliked: The rooms were very cold -- it was really cold and windy during our visit and consequently, our rooms were also very cold. I'm not sure if the rooms have any heating system, but I will still cold with two blankets on at night.

Liked: Great location and it was a good trip.

Disliked: We paid on arrival but when we were leaving there was a bit of confusion because they hadn't written down that we had paid. The only reason for this confusion was because they don't give receipts when you pay. They didn't make us pay as we were absolutely certain that we had paid and there was someone else at reception at the same time as we were paying and so the person behind the desk was distracted and so must not have written in their book that we paid. It may be worth it to ask for a receipt once you have paid.

Liked: Everything was fine, and we particularly liked the outside eating area and the location was perfect. The Dioskouros Guesthouse is only a short walk to the Acropolis, and the bus to Piraeus.

Disliked: Nothing, it was all perfectly adequate.

Liked: The breakfast is very good. It is directly in the centre. The people are very nice and in the hostel there is someone all day long.

Disliked: It is difficult to find, because the hostel is in a little street.

Liked: Very friendly staff. We had problems with our booking, and they were very helpfull.. Let us slepp for free one night in a private room, and then transferred us to another Hotel for less money than the original. Very nice staff, helpfull and friendly!

Liked: Rooms were simple but very clean, garden was nice to have breakfast in. Although down a side street, the hostel is in a good location in Plaka. Overall very good experience

Disliked: Using the metro it was quite difficult to get to the hostel with the directions they give on their website, i would recommend looking them up before going! Also the air conditioning is controlled by reception and is timed to turn off after a few hours, however we didn't have a problem with that.

Disliked: boiling hot room, computers were broken so wifi was only useful if you had your own device. One of the attendants barely spoke English and we needed our luggage from the holding room and he could not understand us

Liked: Great location. Comes with average breakfast and a friendly staff.

Disliked: Stayed here twice, about 3 weeks apart and both times the internet didn't work. I have a feeling it never works because their computers are full of viruses.

Liked: staff were very helpful and friendly, hostel was in a great location - easy to get to the plaka and historical sites. breakfast was basic but good. booked for 2 singles but room had enough space and beds for 4.

Liked: Excellent location. It is really close to Acropolis/Olympus monuments, Syntagma Square and Acropolis/Syntagma metro stations.

Disliked: During our stay, they usually had problems with hot water. They never turn on the heater system. But in general the service is ok according to the prices.

Liked: They lost our booking and still found room for us so we were so relieved. Their information, maps and service were lovely. Internet was free and breakfast was included. The best part about Dioskourous was its location. Right in Plaka it was wonderful being so close to the culture there with a little supermarket, heaps of shops and tavernas, marketplaces etc..just wonderful.

Disliked: There was no atmosphere in terms of meeting people. The common room and garden area were quite simple and so not many people were ever there. The rooms were also quite dusty and dirty but upon asking them to clean, the rooms were better.

Liked: The location was good, close to the Plaka and resteraunts. A bit 'back alley' but safe enough. The sheets were very clean and there is a book exchange (read: shelf with a few books)

Disliked: My two friends and I (who are teenage backpackers so we didn't expect luxury) stayed a night in Dioskouros at the end of July and then again in mid August. The first time we were jetlagged and fell asleep quickly, not really wondering why we didn't have a remote to our airconditioner. We were in a nice room at the back and had two windows so we weren't too hot. The second time we were getting up at 5.30 am to catch a bus to the airport and needed a good nights sleep. We had been stuck in a sweltering hot room in the middle of the hostel with a charming view of a stained concrete wall and drainpipe. This time the airconditioning mattered as it was a 39 degree day but were told firmly by reception that the air con wouldn't come on until 11 pm. We took cold showers and fanned ourselves but it was just ridiculous that they were that stingy. A man finally came around to our room at 11 and asked if we would like air con. The only problem is that they still don't give you the remote and you have no way of changing the temperature or turning it off. We had possibly the worst sleep and woke up zombie-like the next morning. The staff were the worst kind, brusque and unfriendly and acted as if everything you asked them (such as when did the first bus of the day go?) was a huge effort for them to answer or look up. The showers are not properly drained and flood each time you use them, its a huge undertaking to shower which it shouldn't be when they don't provide 24/hr air con. I saw a lizard in the bathroom, and you cannot plug hairdryers into any power points as they will blow a fuse. At 18 euro per night per person it wasn't the worst hostel I've stayed in, but when push comes to shove, I would have paid the extra euros for as good nights sleep in a comfortable temperature. I wouldn't reccommend it based solely on the air con, and that's saying something. I'm sure you could find somehere better to stay that would treat you like a paying customer and let you have control of your environment.

Liked: Very good location, ok breakfast.

Disliked: The rooms were to hot!! The airconditioning in the rooms only worked from 11 PM-03 AM. It was impossible to sleep!! I would be happy to pay extra for airconditioning that works!!
