Liked: Great location, being extremely near to Syntagma Square and the Acropolis. The handy map given by the hostel was also very useful to find many restaurants being conveniently located in the area and getting to other places. The room and toilet was spacious, clean and modern - had no problem even though there wasn't a shower curtain. Bar was also a good place to hang out and chat with people. Staff were also helpful with giving us information (go to Sounio!)

Disliked: Breakfast was a little bit plain, it probably will not cost much more to just perhaps provide some ham or eggs?

Liked: Great location and the rooms were a decent size. I booked the Studio Apartment dorm while it was on sale for the same price as a normal dorm and it was great to have a mini kitchen in the room. Also everyone was really friendly (and let me use the printer for free!)

Disliked: We did have to ask to have the room cleaned properly because the cleaners hadn't been doing the bathroom like they were supposed to (not really management's fault and they got onto it pretty quick). Also the bathroom tends to flood whenever you have a shower due to their not being a shower door. In our room the fan in the bathroom also didn't work brilliantly, especially if there were two showers in a row - it had to work so hard it kept blowing fuses. There may also have been a leak from the room upstairs, although this could just have been condensation from the fan

Disliked: Plastic coverings over the mattresses, and beds on the ground? I felt like I was sleeping in a hospital. Oh, and the sink leaked which was gross. Couldn't go into the bathroom without wearing flip flops.

Liked: perfect location. Walking tour was perfect for 6 euro we saw everything. You need to pay to get to the acropolis but if you have a european student ID it was free! Front desk super helpful!

Liked: The self catering kitchen was great for mingling. Also loved that there was ensuite bathroom, with several hooks to hang clothes when in the shower. There was also an extra sink in bedroom for other people in the room to brush teeth ect if someone was in the bathroom. Also a balcony attached to room. Staff was very helpful and friendly. Breakfast was yummy and filling and fresh. Loved the bar that the hostel referred us to. (Again great for mingling with other guests.) Loved the atmosphere and the surroundings and will definately consider staying here again with Athens Backpackers. I came over to test them out after experiencing another popular plaka area hostel. This one was definately way better!! Also right beside a Metro Station. Super Convenient when hauling a 50lb backpack with a recovering sprained foot.

Disliked: Disliked that I had to leave!!!

Liked: They put on a special walking tour around the city for a group of people that wanted to do it the one day of the week they werent doing it. Very accomodating.

Disliked: No free internet

Liked: Liked access to the kitchen, and the location was absolutely amazing! The staff were really friendly and helpful

Disliked: Only being one shower per floor to me reduced its value for money. A shame the roof bar was closed.

Liked: It was a great location!!! It made going to all the touristic sites very easy.

Disliked: I would say the only thing would be the breakfast as its literally only toast... but honestly greek food is great and cheap so shouldn´t be a problem

Liked: The staff were excellent: helpful, fun, personable. The breakfast was toast and hard boiled eggs, tea and instant coffee on offer which was basic. Beds were alright, location excellent and right next to Akropoli. Warning about taxi drivers from Syntagma to the hostel: they'll charge you at least 15euro and take you a long way, so either haggle a price before you step in (6euro max, I was told by the receptionist) or walk the ten minutes down the street!

Disliked: the showers were a big disappointment, if only because the rest of the place is up to snuff. I had to hold my shower head to use it since there was no hook, the water went ice cold to burning hot irregularly during the shower without my intervening, and the water floods the bathroom floor which somehow makes strands of hair appear from nooks and crannies. Still did the trick though.

Liked: Fantastic location, helpful staff, decent breakfast, good wi-fi throughout, excellent regular walking tour. There were lockers in my room as I know some reviews say there aren't any and they were a decent size just take a padlock with you.

Disliked: Shower was a bit hot and cold and was hand held so was awkward, radiator in room was noisey, roof top bar was closed so went to Sports bar but not much atmosphere there but it was quiet season. Over all good hostel, I would definately go back.

Liked: Amazing location, right off the Acropoli metro stop. The staff was very helpful and the people we met were super fun!

Disliked: The water in the shower barely comes out of the spout and you have the hold the showerhead yourself. I barely had enough time to shower before the hot water cut out. Also saw a roach late at night wandering my room. The check out time is early (10:30am) but they allow you to store your luggage and offer some couches to rest on if you still need during the day.

Liked: Location and atmosphere are incredible. Would definitely recommend to anybody travelling to Athens, young or old. The guided walking tour, offered every morning is also a must if it’s your first time to Athens (Best Value out there)

Disliked: Rooms could use individual reading lamps next to the beds.
