Liked: The staff was really helpful. It's a family hostel, the breakfast is excellent. They offer their bikes for free. The neighborhood is quiet and relaxing. By taking the train, it's easy to get to Mainz and Frankfurt. I love that place for vacations.

Disliked: If you want to visit Mainz in a short time, maybe you need to stay in the center of Mainz. If you have more days to stay. This is a perfect place.

Liked: This was a wonderfully quaint place to stay. The owner and his sister were super friendly and helpful. When we arrived the owner sat us down and showed us all of the sights of the area and all of our transport options. They had brochures that they had made themselves for all of the cities and sights of the area...so handy! Then he let us use bikes for the day whenever we wanted. The rooms were nice enough. We were supposed to be in a 4-bed dorm room but since there was no one else booked in it they upgraded us to a 2-person room for free. The rooms had a tv. Wifi worked everywhere, most of the time... The bathrooms was small but clean. Could maybe use another shower. I was ok for us but there might be a wait if the place was full.

Disliked: Breakfast was just buns & meat & cheese, which is odd for North Americans like us, but it was really good, local & fresh. They were quick to help and get you food, coffee, etc. A great place overall!

Liked: I loved this place. I arrived tired and with a cold from the Frankfurt book fair and was delighted to find a cosy, clean room with piping hot water and a flatscreen TV. The breakfast next morning was basic but very tasty, and the overall service was great. The woman who runs the hostel was extremely friendly and gave me lots of tips for sightseeing and activities. Though I had cancelled the first night of my stay at short notice, she refused to take a cancellation fee. This place was amazing value for money and I had an enjoyable stay. Also, it's only 30 minutes by train from the centre of Frankfurt.

Disliked: The only negative I can think of is the cramped shared toilet. But it was spotless so not really a big deal.

Liked: It was absolutely fantastic! A bit far out from the city, but no problem for us as it was free on InterRail passes, it was easy to get to (although I admit the first time we did almost get lost) and it's actually really nice to stay somewhere more quiet. We also went out to a local pub which was great ... you see a more realistic side of Germany, not the modern tower blocks and plastic shop fronts. Unbelievable value for a great place. Can't recommend it enough! The guy was really helpful, awesome breakfast included, all sorts of books and a laptop put into your hands, and a nice way to meet people you're travelling with.

Disliked: The one slight hitch was that when we returned late one night, he told us how to get in, but the door was really hard to open and we were outside trying everything we could for about ten minutes before it finally decided to spring open. Otherwise super!

Liked: The host, Andrei, was very helpful and showed me useful and interesting things to do in the places I wanted to go, even printing off maps for me when he didn't have one of a specific area. Breakfast was homemade and free, and Andrei also let me use a bike for free. He showed me a lovely bike route along the Main and the Rhein to Mainz through the wine country. The hostel is very near the Flörsheim train station, which connects to Frankfurt am Main and Wiesbaden (from which you can get to Mainz). I ended up in a two-bed room by myself with a TV and a wardrobe, despite booking a dorm, which was nice. Overall, I had a very good experience at Wanderlust, and I would recommend it to anyone looking to stay in the area.

Liked: For road travelers like me, it's perfect. Not far from the main highway, still close to Frankfurt. The owner was quite friendly, helpful and gave nice tips for places to visit around (Sinsheim museum was awesome!)

Liked: Most beautiful little town I have ever stayed at. Just a 30min train ride to the Beautiful Rhine & Mossel. The owners are adorable and very helpful; they lent (not rented) us bikes for the day and we biked around the city between vineyards. Definitely recommended for anybody looking for a very quite and relaxing stop.

Disliked: It was a little closer to the train tracks than I had hoped, but the actual rooms are on the other side of the building and you cannot hear the train at all.

Liked: The staff was awesome, I couldn't have asked for better. They were genuine, not putting on a friendly show but legitimately wanting to help out and all. The free breakfast was wonderful, the town was gorgeous, and there were plenty of travelers coming and going---and with the close atmosphere, it was easy to start conversations with the others and learn about different cultures.

Disliked: Had to fend for myself for dinner, but there's a grocery store a 5 minute's walk away and pretty cheap, large selection. That was really the only thing I ran into, and it was a simple fix. If you have stuff to heat up at the hostel, they have a microwave and such if you ask bout it.

Liked: The owner was very friendly and helpful. He chatted to us after dinner for a long while and gave travel advice. The rooms were very clean and and nicely decorated. I stayed in the female dorm and there was a TV inside. Breakfast was good too.

Liked: The host Andrei was wonderfully informative and welcoming. He spoke perfect English even drove us to dinner at a local winery. The beds were clean and very comfortable. Breakfast was tasty and there was access to internet.

Disliked: The signage to the hostel from the train was a bit confusing, especailly due to some construction but this wasn't too bad.

Liked: Great value for the money, plus Andrei and his staff continuously went above and beyond with customer service to make our stay very enjoyable. As a first time hostel user my wife and I had a wonderful time at Wanderlust and would highly recommend this facility to friends and family planning a trip to the Floersheim/Mainz area.

Disliked: Some road construction in Floersheim made getting to Wanderlust a little challenging, but not impossible.

Liked: Andrea (the owner) was absolutely fabulous. He was a wealth of information concerning everything from good eats, to bike trails, to local hotspots, to well everything concerning Mainz and the surrounding area. He went above and beyond for myself and my partner while we were on the trip (also I noted he did the same for all the other guests as well). He set us up with FREE bike rentals that allowed us to view the abslutely gorgeous german countryside at our own pace. He gave us trail maps and tips and how to make the most of our day in Mainz. It was extremely enjoyable. The hostel was clean and secure. Plus the free breakfast was lovely!

Disliked: There were only two things to note and the first thing isn't really a negative. Location wise it is not in the city of Mainz, it takes about twenty minutes to get there by train. But if you are looking for a relaxing calm getaway this is it. Plus it is very easy to get to Mainz and Franfurt by train so it is not an issue. Plus you can always just take a bike! The second was the fact that the shower was just in the room....as in not in a sepeate walled off space, so having a shower was difficult unless I wanted the other people in the room to see me without any clothes on. So cordinating when to have a shower was a bit of a hassel because I didnt want to get walked in on.

Liked: The owner was very hospitable and helpful. It was very close to the Frankfurt airport and easy to find. Very cheap.

Disliked: The biggest problem I had with this place was that it smelled very bad and someone staying in the room next to me kept smoking for a good portion of the evening. My suitcase and my clothes smelled for days afterward. It was also a very rainy night and I got cold and wet looking for a pay phone (my fault), however when I returned looking forward to a hot shower to warm me up I was sorely disappointed when there was no warm water to be found period. I emerged from the shower shivering and colder than when I got in. Not to mention the shower was in the corner of the very small room with no wall to separate it for even a small amount of privacy. Having said all that, I realize that the bed was so cheap and you get what you pay for. Personally I would not go back just because of the smell.
