Liked: location

Disliked: not very clean, smells. very noisy as in my room there was a door to another 6 bed room.

Liked: There was nothing good about this place or its staff. Upon arriving there was no one at reception to open the door even though the website states that someone is there until 6pm every day and we arrived at 4:45pm (we were counting on this info being accurate as we had a short amount of time in Hamburg). When they eventually arrived we were told that we were earlier than we stated on our booking and that they just had a quick break. Fair enough. We booked a double room but were told it had been filled so we would get a twin room. Went to the twin room and it was a 4 bed dorm with bunk beds. Overall facilities were poor and cleanliness was lacking (there was coffee stains and a McDonalds bag in the kitchen sink to say the least). Upon checking out, we went to leave our luggage in the "free luggage room" but there was no one at reception. We waited 20 mins & because of time constraints had to leave and take our stuff with us. So not sure if another "break" was had by the staff as we had checked from 9am to see if staff was there but no one was there even until 11am which was check out time!! Not sure if these people understand that their lack of honesty leaves a bad impression of the places visited.

Liked: Clean and airy. Convenient to train station.

Disliked: Insufficient kitchen crockery and cutlery for 2 people. Night lighting sparse, and curtains on windows didnot keep out the morning daylight (sun up soon after 5.30 am!)

Liked: The price.

Disliked: The owner is asking me via e-mail to pay €500 for keys that I left at the designated location the day of my departure. I have no intention in paying that seeing I followed his instructions of putting the keys exactly at the place he asked me to.

Liked: the hostel is a small apartment with few sleeping rooms and 2 bathrooms. i liked it because there weren't many people and so you didn't felt like you're in a hostel.

Disliked: i think it's an adequate hostel for a short stay (we only slept there one night) but the kitchen is very small and you have to share the bathrooms (there are no separate toilets) with all the other people. that could be stressful if you want to stay longer. there's no lounge or anything else were you can meet other people.

Liked: The staff were very friendly. It was spacious.

Disliked: The location of this hostel was awful. It was approx 30 minutes into center. There was no activity in this area. There was no breakfast available.

Liked: clean, decent price for what you get

Disliked: the staff was a little unorganized. when i got to the hostel, no one was there, so i had to dial the number left on the door to call the receptionist over. luckily i had my cell phone. it took a while to check in, and they actually overbooked the room my friends and i were supposed to stay in, so we got upgraded to our own private room (a good point, although it was only after their mistake). also, there's no wifi, only a single computer in the main lobby. finally, we weren't provided with any map, and no pointers on what places to visit in the city (note: i didn't ask for this, but i've been used to automatically being provided this service at other hostels)

Liked: For the price it's great, clean bathroom and free Internet. Not a lot to do in the area but trains are very close by. They were out of maps and the staff was not great at giving information about the city and directions. Overall, a good cheap place to stay.

Liked: Location is fine, even if you like to walk from the river or the city centre it takes like 40 minutes approx. Very friendly staff. Very clean bathroom and kitchen. BUT they should warn guests the trains run under our beds literally. It's "too" close to the Lubecker Strasse Station and we had real earthquakes every 3 minutes!!! The train tunnels are located right below the building!!! If you have sleeping problems this is not your hostel.
