Liked: Safe and secure with key-card access and lockers in the room. Very clean and tidy, including comfy bedding and the en suite bathroom. Quiet at night so no trouble sleeping. In a safe neighbourhood and close to a couple of U-bahn stops.

Disliked: There's only one small communal area (a bar near reception) that no-one seemed to hang out in so there wasn't much atmosphere or chance to meet other people. The breakfast was well-presented and the quality of the food was good but I thought it was a little overpriced given the limited selection.

Disliked: Only thing I didn't like is that there aren't enough dishes. Only about 6 small plates and a few forks etc. so it was quite hard to eat someting as there were more than 6 who tried it ;)

Liked: The property didnt just give the lowest bed rate but very good opportunity to meet people. I will try to book this hostel whenever Im going to Cologne again. Very perfect location close to students nightlife street where there are alot of bars, cafes, nightclubs etc etc..

Liked: Friendly helpful staff. Free WiFi, 24 hour bar, great location in the nest district for going out and not too far from the centre.

Liked: Rooms were really nice.

Disliked: There was zero atmosphere. The kitchen and bar were seperated minimising socialising between guests. Breakfast wasnt included and was 4.50 if you wanted it, should be a basic cheaper option. Was dead..

Liked: Clean, good breakfast, accessible, friendly staff staff despite them being unknowledgeable.

Disliked: Even though we had our 'Do Not Disturb' sign up and stayed multiple days including an extended late check-out, the cleaning lady, without fail, came in at 10am. There was only one laundry machine and it was small. The washer and dryer took forever and randomly kept stopping, which took even longer. Advertisement said "knowledgeable staff" yet each time we had a question they had no idea. Instead of saying they didn't know they told us that 'maybe' we could do this or that. For example, we asked them how to rent bikes- theirs were all damaged- and they told us to search for bikes on the street and then call a 1800 number that was on it. Not only was that a ridiculous answer, but how do they expect tourists to know what they are looking for and to have a phone to call them with? We walked across the street and found that the nearest hostel A&O had bikes for rent to anyone. When we told them this they didn't seem to care so that in case other guests asked they would know.

Liked: Good location, far from all the tourists near the cathedral and in a hip and cool neighborhood full of bars, restaurants and shops. The public areas of the hostel are good (kitchen, play room...). You an rent movies even though they don't have many or play games. The bar is dark and smells bad but it can be fun, there's a happy hour and it's not expensive.

Disliked: The whole hostel smells like cigarettes (you can smoke in all public areas at night) and the bar can be really noisy.

Liked: The kitchen was nicley stocked with dishes and multiple appliances uncluding a fridge, stove, oven, toaster, sandwichpress, microwave and toaster oven. Also, the rooms and linen for the beds was nice and clean

Liked: There was great wait staff and exceptionally clean.

Disliked: The hostel is about a 30-40 minute walk from the Hbf and Dom. Seemed very far after coming out of the train.

Liked: great rooms, clean and secrure. met some really great people. right next to the student nightlife area so it was fun!

Disliked: lockers were a bit small but the room was secure enough that it didn't matter

Liked: It was close to the city centre and it had helpful staff on 24/7

Disliked: the lack of privacy in the beds. I understand mixed dorms, but we could at least have a curtain to shade ourselves so we aren't bothered by people coming in and out all night.
