Liked: Upon checking in this place advertised itself with the following slogan "If there's something wrong tell us so we can fix it. If there's something right - tell others". This is where I think they go wrong as a business. It looks like they're taking the easy way out instead of working hard at it to make sure there was nothing anyone could fault them with. It was filthy, stinky, moldy and inadequate. The staff should actually walk up the stairs one day and have a look around to see the beds are broken and stained (as well as the duvets and pillows), the toilets are dirty and smelly and the showers are moldy and gross. The window wouldn't close properly allowing traffic noise to enter. Before checking out we had to bring our own sheets down rather than them taking a walk up the stars and making sure everything was in working order. Its as if the top levels don't exist on in terms of making money. Very disappointing.

Liked: I thought the room was very spacious and clean. Every bed had a mirror and light. No bunkbeds, which was very good. Internet was also good.

Disliked: There was only one toilet for the entire floor, so it got pretty dirty. There was no area to mingle or meet people and the staff wasn't bad but not extremely friendly either. They charged for breakfast.

Liked: Excellent location next to the train station and very good access to the rest of the city. Triple room was very spacious and clean. Bar that is open as long as you want a drink with separate smoking and non-smoking areas. Security was good with lots of CCTV covering the building.

Disliked: Toilets and showers were poor, very unclean and smelly. Quite noisy on a Saturday night as it was difficult to close room doors without them slamming.

Liked: Very clean. Just few minutes' walking from the Dom/HBF. Staff were very nice. Room was bright and clean.

Liked: Bed was fine, room was nice and spacious. Lockers were easy to use simply requiring a deposit for a lock.

Disliked: Breakfast was a bit pricey for what you get compared to other places that I've stayed at. The showers didn't seem too bad, but the toilets were a bit unclean.

Liked: Staff were SO helpful! Also its nice to sleep in a room without bunkbeds for a change. Very close to station.

Liked: Rooms are really nice - and on the doorstep of the city and railway station.

Disliked: Bathrooms were disgusting - with an overbearing smell of urine. Showers were a stainless steel cell.

Liked: For the only decent place to stay on a budget in Cologne, this was really an excellent hostel. It's right in the centre, we met great people, and for a 'dorm' room, there were no bunkbeds.

Disliked: Rachel Sarah left no negative feedback.

Liked: No bunk beds! Clean rooms albeit with a definite hospital quality to them. Good kitchen facilities. Excellent location, 5 mins from train station.

Disliked: Seemed as if anyone could walk in, although rooms themselves were secure. Staff a little strange but helpful nonetheless!

Liked: The location is great, just a short walk from Cologne main station and the famous cathedral. A bit noisy since road and railway station are close by but didn't keep me awake... Nice bar downstairs, we didn't have time to try it out though. Liked the fact that bed linen was provided at not extra cost, in the two other hostels we stayed in during our trip we had to pay extra for that. Staff very friendly and relaxed.

Disliked: You do hear noises from train station and road, I slept right through it all but my boyfriend who is a light sleeper was a bit bothered by it, so bring your earplugs!

Liked: It's located right in the city centre and therefore in walking distance to almost everything

Disliked: The bathrooms are ok but there is definitely a lack of cleanliness. I didn't like that anyone can easily enter the property and that you'd only need to swipe your card to get into your dorm.

Liked: The rooms were clean and very cosy, there were enough toilets and showers and they were clean too, free internet access, very friendly staff and a spacious kitchen for the guests. And a perfect location just a couple of minutes from the railway station!

Disliked: no complaints, I was extremely satisfied with it!!!

Liked: Rooms were nice, clean bed sheets. bar and kitchen were a nice touch. Plus internet access ofcourse.

Disliked: The second floor toilets were blocked and were in an aweful state. The smell was actually unbearable at times.

Liked: It's in a great location. Very convenient for the station, cathedral and river. Supermarket just up the street.Beds are comfy, with clean linen, but the bedrooms look tired, which makes you feel like it's a little unclean.

Disliked: However, it was not a great stay. The toilet was blocked one morning and the bathrooms were smelly at the best of times. Ran out of toilet paper a couple of times too. In general it did not feel clean at all. Encountered some very rude other guests in the Kitchen, which spoilt my evening somewhat and in general I didn't think the atmosphere was that great, especially considering the Gay Games are going on in town and there is a great atmosphere elsewhere. Wifi was very temperamental - often had to wait ages to get connected as it was limited to a small number of users. In general I was disappointed. It seemed expensive for what you get. I've stayed at far better places for a lot less, in what would usually be considered more expensive towns!

Liked: It is a very nice place to stay at; rooms are spacious, ventilated and secure. There's no lift and luggage room is one floor down, it wasn't clean... Staff was approachable but seemed a bit serious and unfriendly. Location in great, i enjoyed my stay

Disliked: The lights of the corridor and toilets at the third floor were broken so we couldn't even get to our room, and even can't pee!! scary and dark.

Liked: The hostel is very well located by the central station and the cathedral. The kitchen facilities are good and there are two lounges: smoking and non-smoking. The reception/bar area is also good. There is wifi available in these areas and three computers in the reception/bar. The staff I dealt with were friendly and helpful, beds decent and hostel clean overall.From my room, it was possible to hear the trains and platform announcements well into the early hours, which gave the night a bit of character.I thought the price was very reasonable for the location and facilities.

Disliked: Although clean, the hostel is a bit old and shabby in areas. One of the corridors smelt of sewage - my room was on another corridor so I don't know if the smell entered the rooms. The location next to the train station could be a problem for light sleepers without ear plugs.
