Dennis DalgaardIt was close to the company that I needed to have my meeting at. The breakfast was nice - little too over-priced, though. My bathroom and bed was very clean and nice. |

Customer reviewThe staff was incredibly helpful and fun regardless of what country they were from or what their native tongue was. The bar was a great place to meet other travelers for a happy hour drink or a late night ramble. The initial impression of the location is easily overcome by in-house bike rentals and close proximity to the underground system. Berlin is a city that is easily accessible and fun when your homebase is the Amstel... |

Mathias GjørlingAmstel Hotel is really good value for money. We spend five days there and were very satisfied. It is clean, welcoming and has a good atmosphere. Easy to buy a towel for the stay (1 euro) and very good breakfast (5 euro), which included: youghurt, müsli, cornflakes, bread, eggs, cheese, marmalade and several kinds of meat. On top of that was juice, milk and coffee. The whole thing is ad libitum and in my mind VERY good value! It has a bar with reasonable prices, where guests can meet and hangaround even with the staff. Generally a place with a good atmosphere. The ONLY thing negative about our stay was the internet connection on the three computers, one could buy time on. They were very cheap to use, but unfortunately had an unstable internetconnection at the time we were there. |

Vincent Remiit's a great place to visit Berlin, we enjoyed it. There are some concerts organized, the atmosphere is nice and the breakfeast is very complete for 5€ per person (cheese, cooked meat, scrammbled eggs, yoghurts, cereals, milk, coffee, tea, bread, marmelade). It is possible to rent bikes and in front of the hostel, there is a good bar-restaurant offering "pasta" for about 5€. The staff is very nice and very helpful. |

Peter McNamaraI had a great time at this place. There's a big common area downstairs with a nice atmosphere, couches and a bar where I met plenty of other travellers. The staff were super friendly and helpful and gave me some really good tips on where to go in Berlin and how to get around I'll definitely be back here. It was good value and the breakfast is one of the best around! |

Customer reviewClean, comfortable, perfectly normal, average hostel. Breakfast is too expensive to be worth it (there's a good bakery near by), but that's pretty much true everywhere. |

Customer reviewCons: They have strict quiet hours, but didn't make an effort to enforce them. Both nights I stayed, the hostel was booked up with teenage tourist groups and they were extremely loud and disrespectful late into the night. They ran around the hallways, screaming and passed from room to room until 1:30 in the morning. I had to go to the front desk to ask them to quiet the kids, but there was only one lady at the front desk and she was on the phone. I waited for awhile for her to get off, but got tired of standing there so I went back upstairs and told the kids to be quiet myself. After going back to bed, the kids continued to be noisy, so I went back downstairs and this time there was an additional staff member there and I asked him for help. He immediately took care of the problem and apologized, but they should have been monitoring the property so I didn't have to leave my room and wait in line at the front desk to get help - twice. This went on both nights and nothing was done until my second night there when I asked them to do something. Also, the front desk was busy almost every time I needed something. They didn't ever seem to have enough staff on to handle the needs of the guests - again, there were large groups of students staying, so the front desk seemed really backed up. If I needed something simple like a map or to purchase time on a computer, I had to wait behind huge lines of check-ins. I think they should designate a space for quick help if they are only going to have 2 staff members on during peak hours. They offer bikes for rent, but they don't even offer hourly rentals. Even if you just want to ride for 2 hours, you have to pay for an entire day, plus put down a 15 euro deposit, which is cash only! I felt like this was ridiculous considering that some travelers are only coming through for a short amount of time. I wanted to rent a bike on my second ( last ) night there, just to take in as much of the city as I could in my last few hours there, and grab some dinner, but they wouldn't let me rent a bike for just 2 hours, and they only took cash for the deposit. I was even willing to pay the fee for the entire day, but I didn't have cash, so I couldn't rent anyway. I offered my card for the deposit and they were not flexible. In general, I thought that they tried to charge for every little extra amenity, which seemed like kind of a rip off. The hostel I stayed in before this one charged 16 euro per night and offered unlimited free computer and internet access, free printing, free and unlimited towel services, included continental breakfast, and had free shuttle services around the clock. This place didn't offer those kinds of amenities and wanted to charge for all extras. Pros:They offered a good breakfast with a lot of variety (for a charge), and my room was nice and seemed to be well maintained for the price. The bathrooms seemed clean and the common areas were clean as well. I thought the atmosphere in the lobby area was nice and inviting. The staff was friendly and helpful for the most part. If I ever had a question, they were happy to help me. The location seemed good. It wasn't in the middle of all of the action, but it was close to public transportation, so it was easy to get around. The entry was secure. |
