Liked: This hostel is excellent value for money. It is clean and has good facilities. The entrance level has a bar, pool table and free internet. There is also some sort of games room downstairs. The hostel tries to organize different activities each night to allow you to meet other travelers. I am a solo traveler and met many new friends here. The bar/ pool area is fairly lively, but a bit more chilled then some other hostels closer to the city. The staff are friendly and helpful. I would stay here again.

Disliked: This hostel can be a little confusing to get to initially. It is fairly close to a U station (about a 5 minute walk), but you might require a taxi to get home after a big night out (It cost me 12 euro from Alexander Platz).

Liked: Very friendly and easy going staff. A lot of facilities and places to meet other travelers. Very secure as you come in everywhere only with chip card - you should just not forget it ;)

Liked: The price, free wifi and 3 computers. Happy hour at the bar. The area is nice and plenty of shops and stores close by.

Disliked: The pub crawl on saturday didn't happen.

Liked: Amstel House is great for meeting other travelers especially during their happy hour (6-8pm). The place is super cheap, well maintained, and in general the staff are pretty friendly (Some more than others). The 5 euro breakfast is pretty good especially if you just got back from the club :)

Disliked: My biggest complaint about Amstel House is its location. The U-Bahn is a short walk away, but it takes 2-3 transfers to get into the heart of Berlin. Obviously there are advantages to being in the outskirts, such as the price of everything in the surrounding area, but still it would be nice to be able to walk to everything very easily.

Liked: very helpful staff, nice rooms, it's very clean and safe. the only problem might be the one shower per 4-5 rooms, but in 6 nights i stayed there, there wasn't really much of a queue for the shower so it's ok.

Disliked: nothing really, everything is just ok.

Liked: the down stairs common room/bar area was a good place to meet people, the hostel hosted events like BBQ's, 'pub crawls' all very nice things to do. Games room down stairs was well equipped, and pool table upstairs.

Disliked: not a lot

Liked: Great ambient, good atmosphere, very cool staff and tourists. Good propositions on behalf of the staff, such as BBQ, free tours, night life etc. The best hostel I ever was, the best I had over europe. The bar is great and it even has happy hour, therefore a fantastic party atmosphere is created in the hostel and you get to know lot's of people. I truly recommend it.

Disliked: Nothing, sincerously.

Liked: Good bar and common area. I stayed on the first floor and could still get the wifi in my room which was a jackpot. Big showers as well. Frederico was the man. Goooood walking tour. Well worth the 6 euro.

Liked: Such price for such hostel is very pleasing. Staff was friendly and always helpful. Bathrooms were clean and there was hot water 7/24. Linens and internet was for free. Cool place to stay.

Disliked: It was a little far even from the metro station. We had to walk for about 15 minutes from the station. Also the room smelled a little bad though the windows were wide open for the whole 3 days. Beds were not comfortable, however if exhausted that is not a big issue.

Liked: Atmosphere, communal area and bar. Had 4 bed room to ourselves for first night. Sink in room. Last minute booking and really good value.

Disliked: A tiny bit hard to find but that's probably because of our awful map reading.

Liked: Excellent stay! A nice bar area with plenty of activities occurring every few days so you can always socialise. Really nice social place, if that's what you're looking for - but not a complete party hostel, so you CAN actually get some sleep there.

Liked: The open and relaxed atmosphere and at the same time the feeling of safetynes. Young people feel belonging and wellcome. The location.

Disliked: Would be nice with small readinglamps at the beds I would also be nice with the possibillity to boil water, e.i. an elboiler either in the rooms or in the commonarea.
