Liked: Two of us booked into a 4 person dorm, but when we got there there were none available. Instead we were put into a 6 person dorm with the guarantee that there would never be more than 4 of us in the room. Worked out perfectly! This is not a party hostel, which is part of the reason why we chose it. The age range was between 16 (with chaperone) and 45. We Loved: The U Bahn station is ridiculously close, as is a huge two storey supermarket with loads of choice and scarily cheap alcohol. The staff are there 24 hours to assist you and the breakfast is fine - its as expected (bread, cold cuts, cheese, boiled egg, cereal, jams, yogurt). There's an internet/game room (with pool table) and free wifi downstairs (the hostelbooker's page says otherwise, but apparently the wifi is everywhere EXCEPT the third floor... where we were). The rooms were clean and simple. We Didn't Love: There were only two things we didn't like; one was that there were no lockers in the room (or anywhere), so we ended up leaving our valuables (laptop, passport, etc) with the front desk staff. The second was that on our third day, about 120 teens showed up. They were loud, obnoxious, etc, etc. Is that the hostel's fault? No, I guess not... would have been great if they'd not taken them (they were a group), but I suppose thats a lot of business/money to turn away. Ah well. Overall, we were very happy with our stay. We met some cool people and had a good time.

Liked: I stayed there at the beginning of September in a 6 bed dorm. In general, the hostel could easily reach the standard of an actual hotel. The place is very clean, the staff always helpful and the breakfast is awesome.It's only a few steps from Mohrenstraße U2 station, there's a supermarket nearby and you can go walking to a lot of attractions (Potsdamer Platz, Bradenburger Tor, Checkpoint Charlie, etc.)It's an excellent place, definetely recommended.PS: never throw paper on the toilets.

Liked: AMazingly cheap for central berlin, the Brandenburg Gate is literally 5 minutes walk away, there's also a cheap supermarket right around the corner. the dorms are a good size and this hostel also has the greatest free breakfast out of all the hostels we stayed in across Europe!

Liked: I can heartily recommend City Hostel Berlin after visiting the city in August 2009. I booked a single room but found I had an ensuite dorm room to myself, with two single beds and a bunk - plenty of space for the money. Everything was clean and the shower fittings etc were modern and in good shape. The free buffet breakfast was an excellent bonus, with a reasonable choice and you could eat all you wanted. The place is more like a hotel than a hostel, with no kitchens for preparing your own food, though there is a terrace out the front where you might meet people. The only criticism was that the cleaner(s) knocked on the door BEFORE 9AM (around 8.30am one day) - sorry, that's just too early! Not their fault as they're just doing their job, but surely 10am should be the earliest you expect to be disturbed (as there were no "do not disturb" signs to hang on the door handle). But they did do a good job cleaning the room each day. Also, the building is part of the North Korean embassy complex (!) - apparently the hostel rents the building from them... so indirectly it seems staying here helps fund the communist regime, in case you feel uneasy about that. But it does mean you're staying in a building with a lot of GDR-era historical interest. The rooms at the back look across to the other building still occupied by the Koreans, which has a photo display of the "Dear Leader" at its gated entrance. Staff at the hostel were friendly. Overall, I left with a very good impression of the place.

Liked: good location, great breakfastWhat I didn't like:- no kitchen for client use not even to heat or refridgerate food. No lounge area, only dining area hence lack of interaction between clients. Lots of school groups running riot in the hallways outside bedrooms.

Liked: Delicious breakfast, comfortable rooms. Bathrooms a bit basic, but otherwise fine. I'd stay here again.

Liked: We were very dissappointed as our locked were changed from a key lock to a swipe lock without being informed. But not only that, the person fitting the new swipe locks on the door had not even lock our room once the work was finished. Our room was left open for over 10hours. We did not even get compensated for their mistake. Anything could have been stolen. We will not be going back.

Liked: The hostel is in a great location but it could do with more sinks as there were only 2 on the 2nd floor, and also some lockers in the room. You could leave valuables at reception but no safe place to leave bags. Overall a good hostel and recommended, the breakfast was very good also.
