Liked: More like a hotel than a hostel especially as we were in an ensuite dorm. Even though it isnt exactly downtown, it is very easy to get to from Schoenfeld Airport and Alexanderplatz is only a 10 minute tram ride. The fact that it is so huge means that you have plenty of opportunites to meet people - everytime we were at the bar there would always be new people. That said the hostel's bar is quite a nice place to have a few drinks at very good prices before hitting the nightlife. The fact that the hostel had a free breakfast was also nice although admittedly it was quite limited. Also appreciated the free walking tour which you join every morning from the reception, as it was a great way to see all the important bits of the city and get yourself orientated.

Disliked: The bar could stay open until a bit later and encourage a bit more of a party atmosphere on days like monday or tuesday when most of the good clubs are closed. The staff at the recepiton ,even though they weren't rude, weren't exactly thrilled when giving information. Of course, my opinion of the staff could be biased as we were told off several times for being too noisy.

Liked: The Bar was really lively, I spent my first night of my interailing travels here and it was a great way to start my holiday and meet loads of people. Also there was plenty of bathroom facilities so the bathroom was never busy. Loved this 'party' hostel, felt completely safe here (as a female traveller) If i ever go back to berlin would 100% stay here again.

Disliked: It was slightly out of the city, but this is barely a criticism as the metro is really easy and cheap to use in berlin, and the hostel is literally next to a metro stop.

Liked: the spaceship vibe was truely wierd but was quite entertaining. we liked the bar and the bedrooms were nice, however a full lenght mirror is a must!

Disliked: the staff were not as helpful as they could have been, it seemed we were annoying and they werent too clued up on tourist attractions and things to do. The breakfast was acceptable and id say good value for money however we were asked to pay for tap water, which is simply mental.

Liked: we got wifi in room as we were on the first floor- most peoploe were only getting it in the reception. rooms were clean and spacious. private rooms have own shower and toilet. breakfast was canny. fresh towels any time you want from the reception. even the shared bathrooms were pretty clean.

Disliked: not sure about all the blue lighting... youy will see when you get there. quite a bit out of the centre of berlin although there is a metro stop literally 30 seconds away. also, the cleaners come in ur room everyday and dont appear to clean anything- i would like to know what they spend there time doing in there! also lots of drunken idiots about- turning up at breakfast drunk and singing down the corridoors in the middle of the night. felt v. sorry for the poor girl on reception by herself. though that isnt the fault of the hostel like, more that of some of the yobs they get in there.

Liked: friendly atmosphere, very helpful staff. The rooms are clean, the hotel is well-equipped. The bar is amazing

Liked: The best thing about The Generator is the facilities that they have to offer. All patrons are offered free breakfast which has a decent variety (considering that it is free) that runs from 7am till 11am. You all have access to the Internet and it is free if you have your own laptop. On the property is a laundry, you can get dinner for next to nothing, there is a bar (which comes in handy for its location). It is also in a great location to Landsberger Allee Train Station.

Disliked: There was too much noise coming up from the front of the building (which is set back from the road behind two other buildings) and the first night that we were there, we had just been travelling for 12 hours to get to Berlin and what we needed was a good sleep, in the corridors there are signs that ask you to be a bit quieter after 11pm to consider "the neighbours" however, there wasn't much quiet until 3am in the morning. You can also here when tour groups get in because there is running up and down the corridors and you can hear everything. It is great if you like to party all night, however, the location is not near Berlin Centre, it took us about an hour and a half to walk into Berlin (if you are on a tight budget), the train system was confusing (at first) the only great way that we found was the tram that ran nearby.

Liked: I definitely liked the proximity of the property to the city centre. Furthermore, the room was great, everything was clean and tidy and the stay was definitely worth its money! :)

Liked: Huge hostel quite like a hotel, good breakfast, and friendly staff. Only a few tram stops to main areas. Great place to meet people at nights.

Liked: War im grossen und ganzen alles okay. Sauber und ruhig hatten wir es nach hinten zum s-Bahnhof raus, nach vorne denke ich, war es lauter, weil alle immer jeden Abend draußen standen und getrunken und geraucht haben, aber das ist wohl auch auszuhalten. Hatte nur nette Mitarbeiter angetroffen, bis auf eine ausnahme, aber die gibt es ja immer.

Disliked: Das Bad im 6er Zimmer war wirklich sehr klein!

Liked: breakfast is included. clean rooms and free linen and towels. staff are willing to help it is also a great bar and food that is super cheap.

Disliked: its not within walkable distance of some of the main sites but still very easy to catch the tram. Also it can get a bit noisy but thee are only minor issues

Liked: This was one of my favourite hostels when i was travelling around Europe. It had a great beer garden and bar. The breakfast was amazing! The massive shower/ toilet room meant there was no queueing for a shower in the morning.

Disliked: Nothing

Liked: Size, and amaount of people there. Lots to do, large communal spaces, with lots to do. Good location an S Bahn.

Disliked: Far away from the city centre, and standing outside at night, you aren't allowed to talk above a whisper!

Disliked: There is this guy that works there, in the staff i guess, well, he is always rude and a little agresive, not helpfull at all, but the other guys are welling to help you. I think the internet service is a little expensive and slow.

Liked: Very good breakfast. Small bedroom(only 4 beds) by 12€ by day

Disliked: The neighbourhood isn't the most beautiful but have easy access. I asked some information for the staff about come back to airport and the information was incomplete and at the end i had to take a last minute taxi where I had to spend some money more.

Liked: Good sized lockers. Staff were pretty helpful.

Disliked: Chaotic, breakfast wasn't good, too many really young teenagers on some sort of school trip, not very many opportunities to meet people (not intimate enough perhaps?) Strange lighting everywhere and drunken people harassing me and yelling racial slurs at me when I was just trying to use the wifi downstairs.. staff shouldn't allow that.
