Driving from the UK:
By motorway, it takes about 10 hours to drive here from Calais.
Most route-planners suggest the following route - Calais - Brussels - Aachen - Koln - Frankfurt - Heilbronn - Nuremburg - Regensburg - Deggendorf, then across country to Bayerisch Eisenstein.
We would suggest you try another route. Slightly longer and costing around €30 each way in French motorway tolls, it has less traffic than some other routes and therefore can be faster:
Calais – Reims – Metz – Saarbrucken – Mannheim – Heilbronn – Nuremburg – Regensberg – Deggendorf – then cross country to Bayerisch Eisenstein (signposted)
Driving from Belgium/Netherlands: The E45, by-passes Frankfurt, (the traffic is lighter than on the Rhine autobahns, so could save time), then Würzburg – Nürnberg – Regensburg – Deggendorf, then cross country to Bayerisch Eisenstein, (signposted).

From Zwiesel: Follow the B11 in the direction of the Czech Republic. On entering the village, continue past the petrol station on the left. Past the pedestrian crossing, take the next left, signposted Arber, Bad Kötzting, Brennes. (If you continue straight on you come immediately to the border control point, which you can clearly see from the turning). The road goes uphill, bending sharp left within meters of the junction, Take the 2nd road on the left, as the road bends sharp right. Follow the road round to the right and Gästehaus Am Berg is the 3rd property on the right.

From the Czech Republic: This route is not recommended in winter, as the roads in the Czech republic are not cleared of snow as frequently as in Germany and so can be tricky. Follow the road through Zelezna Ruda, to the border crossing point. Cross the border and immediately turn right, signposted Arber, Bad Kötzting, Brennes. The road goes uphill, bending sharp left within meters of the junction, Take the 2nd road on the left, as the road bends sharp right. Follow the road round to the right and Gästehaus Am Berg is the 3rd property on the right.

There is a large car park at the front of the house. The entrance to the house can be easily identified by the word “Willkommen” above the door.
BY PLANE:

Probably, the most easily accessible airport is MUNICH (München). It has good motorway & public transport links & is approximately 2 hours from Bayerisch Eisenstein, by train or car.

BY TRAIN:
From Munich airport there is a bus link to Freising, then catch the train to Plattling, where you change to Bayerisch Eisenstein. Cost of a single ticket is about 25 Euro. (children under 14 travel free). Journey time about 2 hours.
A great option if there’s more than one of you travelling, is the Bayern ticket. Up to 5 people (same family) can travel anywhere in Bavaria by train for just €27. The offer is valid on regional trains but not intercity or express trains and you can’t start your journey till after 9am on a weekday. Weekends there is no restriction on journey start times.
From Linz airport, there is a free shuttle bus to Hoersching station, where you can catch the train to Plattling, then change for Bayerisch Eisenstein. The arrival time of Ryanair flights may be too late for you to catch the last connection to Bayerisch Eisenstein. You can, however, get as far as Zwiesel (12 km away). Taxis are available from there.
From Prague airport, catch a bus or taxi to the central station (Hlavni nadrazi) in the city. The train is slow, taking about 4 hours and involving 1-2 changes, the final train destination is Zelezna Ruda, but stay on the train to the very end of the journey, which is the Czech side of the station at Bayerisch Eisenstein.

The Gastehaus is only 10-15 minutes walk from the station at Bayerisch Eisenstein. There are hourly trains to Plattling, where there are connections to inter-city trains. From Bayerisch Eisenstein trains run once an hour, from approximately 4 am until about 9pm each day.
If required, we can collect you & your luggage from the station and take you back there when you leave, please contact us in advance to arrange this.
If you are walking from the station, come out the front of the building and turn left. Take the 1st right down the hill, Hohenzollerstrasse. Cross the road at the pedestrian crossing to the left of the junction, and follow the zigzag footpath uphill. Follow this path to the T-junction at the top (about 100 meters), (in the summer, there are a number of seats on the way up, for admiring the view). Turn left at the T-junction and take the next road on the left. Follow the road round to the right, we are the third house on the right.
