The location is perfect...spitting distance from Sacre Coeur and the Anvers subway station, which is a couple stops in both directions from major lines that will take you all over Paris. The 20 Euro bed was a great deal, and even though I was supposed to stay in a room with four people, I ended up having it all to myself, even the view of Sacre Coeur from my window. The food wasn't great, it was essentially bread in several different forms, but breakfast is included and there are plenty of places to eat nearby. Luggage storage was incredibly helpful too. I'll definitely be staying there every time I go to Paris for the location and price. I also stayed in a double private ensuite. Both rooms had half-timbered cielings and were quite pleasant, the hot water worked if you gave it a few minutes and took showers at unusual times of day, and the beds were decently comfortable. It was all quite clean and pleasant.

It was really close the metro- not a far walk from Anvers station at all! There are some girf shops close by that have pretty good prices, and there is a supermarket just across the road from the Hostel

What I'd like to say is that it's average, not good but not bad. They don't offer sheets and there is only one key per room which means the last person who goes out has to leave it at the reception.
If you wanna stay in a proper hostel, I'd recommend it. But I don't think it gives you value for money.

The area and ease of access to the rest of Paris is great. The main Metro stations that service the Hostel allow for fast and easy transfers to most/all of the famous sites in Paris (lines 12 and 2).
The beds are comfortable and the bathrooms clean and well kept. There is a balcony for meeting people/relaxing (mainly used as a smoking area) which is closed down at midnight to help reduce night time noise and partying...very considerate.
The neighborhood is safe but not to everyone's taste (textile district/poor area). The area bustles during the day but quietens after 8pm once the main textile handlers close. Food is easily available with mini-supermarkets, cafes, restaurants and bistros within easy walking distance.

I liked the breakfast - simple, but good. The room/toilettes/shower were clean. The location is good - metro station, quite a lot of restaurants nearby.

I stayed a week and a half and there's nothing bad I can say! Le village was absolutely awesome, the staff fantastic, location wonderful. It is in the red light district, but walk the opposite direction towards montmatre and the area is awesome. the metro in paris is flawless and it's so easy to get to all the sites. The terrace is a fantastic place to meet people and cos it's not a bar it doesn't get hectic at night when you want to sleep. Definitely will be going back there!
