Liked: VERY friendly staff and super helpful, even when you arrive at 6am the morning after you were meant to. Comfy clean beds. Everyone happy and friendly. One of the better equipped kitchens we have seen. Wonderful :)

Disliked: Could have had a bigger common area but not a big deal, still kitchen and table etc.

Liked: The location is really nice, in the old parts of Nice. Perfect for a Saturday's night out with plenty of pubs and bars nearby. Happy hour until 11pm just across the street. For the price it's hard to beat, including wifi and breakfast.

Disliked: There is a nightclub just across the street which closes at 6am during weekends, can be loud and noisy when the crowd comes out on the street if you plan to go to bed at that time.

Liked: Convenient for one night and, Close to beach!

Disliked: Kinda of schetchy. We paid for a private double and doe one in a 12 person room on this website. But getting there in the evening, they explain that the private rooms are in a seperate bulding up the street. So we'd have to walk over there and leave our friend. They offered for us to join in the mixed 12 person room with no refund. So we paid more than we should have, and that sucks when you're on a budget. That should have been stated on the website!

Liked: The location was excellent! A two minute walk from everything and the owner was very nice and full of ideas of what you could do on your stay in Nice

Disliked: It was kind of hard to find (what signage there was was pittifully small) and there wasnt always the promised breakfast available...

Liked: I really liked the location and the staff. Great spot in the old town and the staff were really friendly.

Disliked: The showers aren't great, nothing to hold up the shower head and the water was luke warm. Also the breakfast which is included is not the most inventive or varied I've seen. It includes white bread and jam. Tea or coffee. But the small discomforts are worth the location in the old town of Nice and the great staff and fellow

Liked: Good location.

Disliked: Well I have never felt so unsafe in my whole entire life, we had to place chairs next to the door to prevent unwanted intruders. The bathroom was clean but the shower was shocking and loose. The description of the hostel claims it provides breakfast...all this really means is a toaster and coffee machine, hardly what we were expecting.

Liked: The kitchen facility was definitely a bonus and the atmosphere created by the other travellers also. The location is absolutely brilliant and can not be knocked.

Disliked: When I first arrived I wasn't informed of much, i.e I didn't know about the kitchen until the second day, I also had to ask another traveller where the toilet and showers were however I do put this down to me being very last minute online after I had arrived in Nice. I did have one disagreement with the English member of staff and that was over a poor attitude shown in the early hours of the morning after I was locked out due to it actually being locked from the inside as opposed to just being put on the latch.

Liked: Private room with kitchen facilites on offer, private bathroom and excellent location. The location was different to the actual hostel, we were just off the main road, but its still very close to walk to the beach through the old town.

Disliked: No fans, so you need to keep the windows open - bring ear plugs. The room would have been perfect if everything worked. We were in room 2. The washing machine had a sign saying out of order, the fridge was hot and obviously not working and you couldnt clip the shower head n the wall. On top of that the shower head had no seal so we took the actual head off and used the shower as a hose pretty much. The TV was kept in the cupboard with no remote (so you couldnt tune it anyway) but wasnt a big deal as we sat at the beach all night anyway.

Liked: Hostel Smith is in an amazing location, literally 500 m from the beach. If you are looking for somewhere very basic, it is very good. It is in the centre of the old town, a very lively and picturesque area, with a great ice cream parlour round the corner! Very friendly roomies who were nearly all English speaking.

Disliked: The room was extremely cramped and hot, with no space for luggage or moving around. There was roughly 1 foot between the two rows of bunk beds, and no space between each one. The windows had to be open as it was very hot (no air con) and it was incredibly noisy all night- even with ear plugs it was difficult to sleep. As extra beds had been put into the room (it was advertised to us as 6 person but there were 8) there were also not enough lockers, so for the first night we had to carry all valuables with us. The bathroom situation was also ridiculous. We booked an 'ensuite' room, but these did not exist. The bathrooms were up a ladder to a loft-style section and there were only two toilet/shower rooms for 24 people at a time. The lights in here were on a timer and so turned off after 5 minutes, leaving you in the dark. The shower/toilet area was generally quite dirty and often had no toilet paper, never any soap. There was also nowhere to hang towel/clothes etc.

Disliked: this hostel is discusting.. the worst ive ever stayed in! i usally dont even write reviews but it was so bad I feel I need to. The staff english is very poor.. they asked for a 10 euro key deposit and when i checked out and asked for my 10 euro they said they didnt wite down that i paid that and wouldnt give it to me. the bathrooms are dirty so were my sheets. there were DOGS running around the hostel..no breakfast no common room.. crap kitchen.. 2 showers in the whole place! it is gross! stay elsewhere.

Liked: Located in the old town and close to all amenities

Disliked: The property was dirty! I have stayed in many hostels across Europe and this was the only unclean hostel I stayed in. The state of the room was beyond comprehension. Bathroom was probably not washed for about a month at least. It had mould on the shower doors which by the way were broken. There were spider webs all over the place. The room was supposed to have a double bed but instead it had a dirty couch with all sports of animal hairs on it. The place definitely has the potential and I hope that owners will clean their act and get this place into a liveable condition.

Liked: Staff was very friendly and helpful, location was close to beach.

Disliked: Unfortunately, the hostel was also right above a street, right by a club-VERY noisy throughout the night. There was also little hot water, the internet went out for about 14 hours, and my 12 bed room ended up having 16 beds. Yeah.

Liked: It was a great location in Nice's old town. The kitchen facilities were good, and they had netbooks which were available for use (though the french keyboards were confusing!). The staff and other guests were friendly.

Disliked: They messed up the bookings so on the first night the 3 of us were in different rooms. If we'd been younger/less confident that would have been a big deal. Then the next day they moved us all into a bigger room, bringing all our luggage downstairs without telling us, which was weird considering I'd left underwear on my bed and stuff. Though there were lockers in the dorms they didn't have any spare keys for them, so we just had to leave everything next to our beds and hope the other guests were trustworthy.

Disliked: The wather in the shower room is always warm. They don't have luggage room. They just put your bags in the lobby and every can take it away. Bad memory to live this hostel . You didn't have the room key or front door key . Please don't choose this hostel.

Liked: I liked the central location and that they had a kitchen i could cook in and the owner is very friendly.

Disliked: The elder lady that works there wasn't very helpful to me and I was shuffled around on camp beds and the like and not given any towel, they asked me to rent one, the kitchen was quite dirty and the common area for guests is far too small.

Disliked: Loud thoughout the night and not that clean. It was advertised that there was also free internet and all the computers were not working.
