Liked: location was good except for all the noise!

Disliked: the night staff was absolutely useless. every question we asked (can you suggest a restaurant? how do you get to monaco?) wasmet with a, i dont know, ask someone else. the rooms are SO tiny, 8 beds with no space to move only 2 bathrooms for 14 people with lights that dont stay on more than 5 minutes... def showered in the dark several times.

Disliked: everything, no receipt. register was workers pocket.. couldnt tell who worked at hostel..couldnt find it, really small sign.. no locks bathroom water cold.. locker small.

Liked: The people at the front desk were really nice though, and the location is nice, the place is easily accessible from the train station or the airport and it's easy to get to places form there. It's also really cheap.

Disliked: This hostel is not really a hostel. This is a small house turned into a place for many people to sleep. There is a single room with about 14 beds in it, and a single bathroom. There are two showers, and one toilet.. all in the same space, with no privacy whatsoever, and both men and women use the same bathroom. This would be ok with me if there were more than one toilet and the showers weren't in the same physical space as the toilet. Also, there is nobody at the front desk from midnight til 9 in the morning. And, unless you pay quite an expensive deposit for a key, you cannot go out after midnight, and you are basically locked in there until the next morning when someone else shows up. The place is across the street from a night club, and it was REALLY loud...

Liked: I found that the staff here compared to other Hostels treat you like family- its not just business for them. The place had great character and is in a GREAT location! Its not the most modern and trendest Hostel, but if you appreciate a good atmostphere and true hospitality, you will enjoy this place!

Disliked: The sign out the front was hard to see. We walked past it a few times.

Liked: Very friendly staff and a beautiful location. It was easy to meet people and it had a very homely feel to it. I would stay here again!

Liked: It was convenient to all the important parts of the city: the beach, Promenade des Anglais, and the old city, which is SO beautiful!

Disliked: The directions provided in the description on HostelBookers weren't accurate; after a while of stumbling around with a wheeled suitcase (and its horrific noise on cobblestones) I finally found it, but not where I expected to find it. The only suggestion I can make for Hostel Smith is that they update their directions!

Liked: Good location.

Disliked: Terrible staff. DIRTY. Gave us a different room then we booked cause the room we were supposed to get had been broken into. Didnt have maps to give out. Lights in shower turn off every five minutes. Sheets smelt like pee. COLD. Unorganized. DONT WASTE YOUR MONEY.

Liked: The rooms in the old town, a nice quarter of Nice.

Disliked: Dirty, the heater didn`t work. For the first night we asked for a 2. blanket but they haven`t. And in January and February the nights are quite cold. They gave us a room 5 minutes walk away from the Hostel Smith, so we didn`t have Wifi and our room was located to a noisy street.

Liked: location is a little far from the Nice-Ville station, it takes 15-20mins by walk, but the hostel is located in old town of nice and close to beach. The price is very affordable.

Disliked: fercilities. not good, but if you wanna save your money, i wanna recommend.

Liked: cheap and convenient location. it's basic and livable. the pubs are along the same street. the noise oes on till wee hours esp on sat. if u r a light sleeper and early person, you would not be able to rest.

Disliked: I was put in the upper level and it's not the same apartment as the reception. therefore... 1) poor wifi. disconnected every 2mins. 2) inconvenient to use the kitchen. have to go down and there is no one in the reception to open the door for u in the morning before 10am. until some kind early travellers open for ya. 3) the steps to the bathroom 4) the bathroom lights that goes off every 5mins

Liked: The atmosphere at Hostel Smith was amazing. You really felt like you were part of a community or group of friends, and everyone was extremely nice. It was an amazing value for the money, and we would definitely stay there again.

Disliked: The cleanliness was a little bit of an issue, but the hostel was pretty much fully-booked when we got there with new people coming in and out everyday, so we can definitely see where it was hard to keep the place clean. Regardless, we would still stay there again.

Liked: Great place to stay, location excellent! the staff were friendly and hostel very clean, and the person who left feedback that you needed to wak through a dark alley to get here dont listen too, the hostel is in the old down and therefore every single street is narrow and but still buzzing with life, also nice is an incredible city,

Disliked: maybe could put a second dinner table in the lobby area for people to chill around and eat at

Liked: Perfect location in the middle of Old Town. 2 minute walk to the beach and super close to the nicest pubs. Great people and helpful staff.

Disliked: Pretty much nothing.

Liked: It's directly in the heart of the city and very close to the beach. The atmosphere is a good one due to the small size of this hostel.

Disliked: The cleanliness was not the greatest (though it was okay for me), it wasn't possible to pay by credit card and the rooms (especially the kitchen and the hallway are quite cramped.

Liked: Location was great and though the hostel looks quite rough, it's clean and feels safe. Staff was friendly and helpful.

Disliked: The private room for two looked like a prison cell and the kitchen wasn't properly equipped. The fridge was simply filthy, because there's a lot of leftovers from who knows how long time ago.

Liked: We had the 3 bed private en suite room, great location, cheap and perfect for our needs.

Disliked: Despite booking on HostelBookers they had no record of our reservation. We were really lucky our private room was free - would have been furious otherwise.

Liked: The owner Frank was a very helpful and nice man. There was also internet access in the hallway and it was a real hostel environment. The kitchen was good with all necessary facilities. Location is excellent

Disliked: First and foremost was the fact we asked for a private double en suite and it turned out to be a twin room right next to a SHARED bathroom. This was bad as well as all thorugh the night all you could was people urinating and toilets flushing. But the staff were very nice and we met some interesting people. The hostel was really hot with no air conditioning anywhere, although it did not advertise any. The worst thing was the Irish bar right below the hostel. We stayed for one night on a saturday night and the noise was terrible right through until 4am. Its a true hostel experience which if your wanting a shared room is very friendly and in an excellent location in the heart of old town nice.
