I loved the quiet place in a very small town, close to the attractions I wanted to see, and what I loved the most were our hosts!
Overview
Au Bon Accueil is our family run hostel, B and B, chambre d'hote, 10 minutes from the Mont St Michel. All rooms have private bathrooms. Free pick up and drop off from Pontorson train station and the Mont. Free Wi Fi.
We offer bed and breakfast accommodation in a 200 year old house on Brittany/ Normandy border. All rooms are en-suite and can have tea and coffee facilities by request. Cycle hire.
There is free transport to and from Mont St. Michel every day and a free pick up and drop off at Pontorson . Last pick up is 20.00hrs. Free WiFi.
We are situated just 10 minutes from the world heritage site of Mont St Michel and 30 minutes from the ferry port of St Malo and are ideally located for weekend breaks or a longer vacation.
Many of our guests choose to make use of our bicycles to rent for the day. The route to Mont St. Michel is along quiet farm roads, with almost no traffic. The land is very flat and you will be able to see magnificent views of the Mont along the route.
We have a very friendly bar in the village, the ‘Oystercatcher,’ where very good cheap food can be purchased; everyone loves Kevin’s chicken curry and chips. The dining room is available for guests who would like to bring their own food.
A traditional Breton bar - The Tric'Horn cafe - is right opposite.
Location Information
Mont St. Michel is a must for anyone visiting the area. There are organized walks in the bay of Mont St. Michel. if you wish to walk in the bay you should only do so on the organized tours (must be booked in advance) The bay has the second fastest tide in the world it comes in at the speed of a galloping horse.
There are many other walks starting from local villages, most of which give the opportunity for panoramic views across the bay.
The walled city of St. Malo is just a short drive along the coast. The local towns have regular markets that are well worth a visit; Dol de Breatgne's Saturday market is a must. The nearest beach is only 10 minutes away in the village of Cherrieux, which is renowned for its sand yachting.
Within 30 minutes drive there are the beautiful medieval towns of Dinan and Dol De Bretagne, the ancient capital of Brittany. Across the unique "Barrage de la Rance" is the holiday resort of Dinard, very British in style with its Edwardian architecture.
Visit the fairytale château at Combourg; or for the children, the zoo and château at nearby La Bourbonsais or the Cobac water-park.
Along the coast is the small port of Cancale, famous for its oysters, which are harvested in the bay, along with the famous mussels or "moules de bouchots."
