Liked: It was great to stay in the middle of the UNESCO world heritage site, with a beautiful atmosphere of the past. The staff was really nice, so I could even check in earlier than stated because there were not many other guests during my stay. It is nice that there is a self-service kitchen because food is as expensive as everything else in Helsinki... I really enjoyed the calm of this hostel. Moreover, they have really huge lockers (I could have fitted my whole backpack in).

Disliked: The internet connection was quite low in my dorm. Transportation to Helsinki is fine, but you should know that there are fewer ferries in winter and on weekends (but still at least one per hour).

Liked: It iis a very clean place. Midwinter in Suomenlinna has few people staying, so it was a calm place. Staff was very nice. The location is good, if you have the information about ferries to Suomenlinna, and it's very near from the center of Helsinki.

Disliked: Everything in Finland is very expensive for me, the hostel was expensive, but reasonable price considering Finland. The box in male's bathroom was broken, but it had a curtain so no problem. Few places to charge your stuff and the signal of internet was weak in the bedrooms, but in kitchen and chillout place was ok!

Liked: Located on the beautiful island of Soumenlinna, it was a great experience being in a hostel that is part of the UNESCO Heritage site. It was very easy to get the ferry to and from the hostel into the main market of Helsinki, which is even cheaper if you get a 1 or 2 day transport pass from any of the R-Kiosks. It was a very great experience.

Disliked: Had some trouble getting in when we arrived because it was after the check-in desk was closed. We had to call to get into the building, but the description of the hostel did not make a big deal of needing a code to get in. I think it would have been better if this point was emphasized a bit more in the hostel description that after a certain time, you need a code. A bit on the expensive side, but Helsinki in general is expensive.

Liked: It was a nice but the location is only great during summer. If u plan to stay out you have to wait until 6AM for the ferry. But, since there is not a wide range of hostels in Helsinki, it might be the only suitable choice.

Disliked: The location, and the entire atmosphere, it was kinda gray and army-like.

Liked: I'm sure the island is lovely in summer.

Disliked: Old school building, half empty in fall. It was so scary at night. I really don't recommend unless you love horror movie and would love to be in it. I (female) was alone with a guy in my 8 bed room.The door code system broke and people were unable to come into the building. Apparently the key for the rooms also worked on the front door, but no one explained to the guests so no one knew. Some random Drunk guy came in, made a mess but there was no stuff to go to. I only saw the stuff for like 5 minutes in 2 days of my stay. And I forgot to change the time (there is 1h difference between Stockholm and Helsinki) and checked out like 10 after 10am, the girl at the front desk said nothing, and they charged my card for 7 euros. I was like what is this??? And realized it must have been for the 10 min I was late for the check-out time. So don't forget to change your time....

Liked: The location was perfect for setting out early to explore Suomenlinna. Both the bathroom and dormitory were very clean. Not a very lively atmosphere, but great for a relaxing evening and a good nights sleep.

Liked: The property is a great starting point for exploring Suomenlinna. The staff were very friendly, and the hostel was neat and clean (except for the sink and stove, but I think that might have been due to messy guests). It was also quite easy to get to downtown Helsinki by ferry, and Suomenlinna hostel charged half the rates of the downtown hostel.

Disliked: There was really no atmosphere and the hostel wasn't very fun. The common room was a classroom with one computer in the corner and some wooden tables and brochures. There wasn't a good place to relax or meet other guests in the hostel, so most people tended not to socialize.

Liked: I enjoyed the location, peaceful and quiet, liked the atmosphere, nice breakfasts, enough space to read, talk or check the internet without annoying other guests.

Disliked: I liked it all the way.

Liked: Everything was great and the bed was particularly comfortable. Although it's located on Soumenlinna (which itself is one of Helsinki's top attractions), you'll have no problem travelling to the city centre as there is ferry service that runs from as early as 6am to as late as 2am.

Disliked: The bathrooms are rather dirty and it's a little expensive for a 8-bed dorm, but that's what you should expect in Helsinki. You can't connect to the free wifi in the dorm rooms, not even in the living room.

Liked: I would warmly recommend this hostel to anyone travelling to Helsinki. It is not only cozy and very welcoming, but it is also located in beautiful surroundings. I only regret I didn't stay longer.

Disliked: I liked everything about it.

Liked: I enjoyed my stay here! Met a lot of really cool people. The staff were really friendly and helpful!

Disliked: I think everything went well and there wasn't much to complain about. Would be nice to have a comfy common room though, instead of just hard seats at a table in the breakfast room. Otherwise great:)

Liked: Unique-ness of the location in the island and that's is also the weak point which is too isolated. High Ceiling which caused noise & echo. There is not enough plugs in the room for battery charger.

Liked: Suomenlinna was a great place to have a rest and walk around. There is a very goodd service between the island and Helsinki - £2 per journey or £4 per day (ticket valid for 12h as much journey as you want)

Liked: Location is good, very close to the harbour and in the nice island. Clean linen and bed

Disliked: Reception time was too short. Staff was just cleaners, almost invisible and not helping. The door of rooom was impossible to open or close properly.
