 Located in a major tourist atraction island.

It's on an island, but it's only a ten or fifteen minute ride, and your dropped off directly downtown, into market square. So, in a sense it's closer than some other hostel in the city, but a few blocks away from the downtown. And the island is pretty, too.

Location and uniqueness of setting. Just be aware that the facillities on the island shut early so if you want a drink or meal out check the closing times of the restaurants.

A quiet location on Suomenlinna Island, just a 15 minute ferry trip from Helsinki's Market Square. Very good ferry connection to Helsinki mainland (ferries run about every 20 minutes) and are included on Helsinki Public Transport Card. Very helpful staff. We stayed in a good sized 6 bed dorm which was very clean and had good bathroom facilities just down the hall. Only gripe would be that the kitchen is a bit minimalistic with regard to utensils. Would definitely recommend.

AS a woman I would not. In less you are traveling with others, to stay in a mixed dorm and be the only woman is a little uncomfortable. The should offer same sex dorms.

The location wa nice. Because the hostel is on an Island you have the feeling you are far away from the busy centre of Helsinki, though it only takes 15 minutes to get there. Having to make a boat trip each time to get to Helsinki is nice too.

I liked the room we stayed in and I liked the island it is situated on, but I think it is much nicer to stay there in the summer time when you can really enjoy being on the island.
