Liked: As not many tourists opt to stay overnight in Suomenlinna, the hostel was rather quite. It has a small cooking area which is rather convenient, though no proper cooking utensils. Staff was friendly and helpful.

Liked: Unique location on a fortified 17th century island, a 15 minute boat ride from downtown Helsinki. Pity the Wifi did not work all week though.

Liked: Was absolutely perfect choice,We realy like the place and I will come back.All members of staff was very friendly.Hostel Suomenlina will be in reconstruction,but I dont think they realy need to do it.Only 1 little think Mattresses are too soft.

Liked: We loved this property on a very beautiful island. Well presented rooms, although having kitchen facilities just outside the room was annoying when other people were using it and talking when you were trying to sleep. The island itself is quite an attraction, especially in winter when it is very cold and the bay ice freezes as it did when we were there. The ferry ride from Helsinki central takes about 15 minutes and is a delight. We didn't have much to do with the staff, but they semed pretty friendly.

Liked: when i stayed at this hostel, i was alone and the staff hadn't expected my stay. by the way Suomenlinna was really beautiful in winter and also this hostel was clean and quiet. it's not very good place to meet fun peolpe but if i were you, i'd like to visit Suomenlinna and this hostel.

Liked: The best hostel in Finland. The rooms are spacious, comfortable and ultra clean. The location is great, only a 15 minute ferry ride and the hostel itself is situated next to the ferry drop off point. The hostel is situated in an historic converted school with excellent facilities; free WiFi and internet terminal for those without, large spacious kitchen/common room, extremely clean showers and wash basins, and an excellent buffet breakfast is available too. What really makes this hostel stand out is the friendliness of the staff; Marco and Marja made me feel like I was at home, they live and work on the Island and are show passion for their neighbourhood and the surounding nature and historical aspect of the Island. Suomenlinna Hostel is far superior and extremely cleaner than the downtown hostels and offers value for money. Stay here with confidence; truely a home away from home.... Thank you Marco and Marja for a wonderful stay.

Liked: Hostel is very neat and Suomenlinna Island is pleasant. The Island didn't have as much to see and do as we had hoped though so a day trip could be a better option - particularly in low season. The hostel kitchen is ordinary: small and with poor facilities. Its right in front of the rooms on the second story so I imagine we woke a few people up when we made breakfast. Staff are friendly but don't go out of their way to add anything to the vibe of the place - fairly typical of a YHA place.

Liked: It is very clean, in a nice old building, in a lovely quite location (UNESCO heritage site) with easy ferry access straight to the city centre (ferries even run until late at night). The only draw back is that the self catering kitchen is very small and can only accomodate one person cooking at a time.

Liked: the hostel itself is okay, and the island as well but not to stay there for the night, especially if you travel alone and would like to meet other people as well. Everything closes at 6. If you wanna be isolated and take a rest then it is the perfect place otherwise choose something else!

Liked: This is NOT some filthy noisy party hostel crowded with drunkards.... and that is why I loved it! This is an former school building a lovely island, just off the coast of Helsinki. Easy enough to get there with the public transport ferry. And fabulous for morning walks before the first tourists from the mainland arrive!!
