Our hostel is located in the Suomenlinna Island Fortress, on Iso Mustasaari, near Jetty Barracks and the ferry harbor main quay.

This cosy and clean hostel operates in an old school building from the beginning of the 20th century. It's located near the coast line in a beautiful neighborhood with wooden houses .
A different and relaxing athmosphere not far away from the busy city centre of Helsinki!

There is a market store, a visitor center, several restaurants, cafés and museums, a post office, art galleries, an artist workshop with a store, a beach, a summer theatre, a library, a church (with a lighthouse) on the island. There are 850 inhabitants living in Suomenlinna all around the year.
Please note that there is no cash machine or pharmacy on the island. You will be able to pay with a credit card in most of the places on the island.

By staying at Hostel Suomenlinna you support Finnish youth activties.
The hostel is run by the Finnish Youth Centers Organisation.

Please note:
Our reception is open Mon-Sat 8-20.45, and Sundays 8-12 and 14-18. If you do not arrive when reception is open, please, inform us. If you don't, we are not responsible for keeping your room.

We have a self catering kitchen, laundry and a common room with TV and internet.
There is also a free wireless internet connection in our hostel.

Location Information

Suomenlinna (called also Viapori, Sveaborg in Swedish), the 250-year-old fortress, which has been preserved intact because of its military use, is today part of the world heritage. In 1991 it was included in Unesco’s World Heritage List.
