Caqalai Island Resort

Simple and laidback. An island on its own, quiet and unspoilt. Walk along white sandy beaches around the island for just 12 minutes, colourful waters, amazing snorkel, warm Fijian hospitality and pay less for your holiday in paradise!!

Caqalai is simple and basic with a lot of peace and quiet. We service daily a 10 bed dorm, 8 single and double bure and 2 family bures. Whilst Leleuvia Island is just a 5 min boat ride away, Snake Island is just walking distance at low tide.

At Caqalai, electricity is available 6- 12 am and again at 6 - 12 pm, powered by a generator.

Fresh local produce in fruits, root crops, meat, and sea food is blended into our cooking, which is traditionally cooked at all times. Coffee is served daily at 4pm and breakfast is also served (buffet style).

As for activities, you may just lay back on the beach and soak up the sun, read a book under the trees or choose to snorkel, island hop visiting villages, dive, shop at Levuka or join the staff for a volleyball game. Evening with the staff after dinner is special, sit around the bon-fire at the beach or around the Kava bowl with the string band, this is where we all forget time!

The island maintains a kiosk for your immediate needs, drinks and snacks. As the operation of the resort is run by the Methodist Church of Fiji, we suggest that guests bring their own liquor along as this is not available on the island.

Accommodation Information

Our accommodation varies from private, traditional bures and larger family bures, to a dorm for the budget travellers, as well as the option to camp next to the white sands of the beach. All accommodation includes 3 meal delicious meals, including a wonderful, Fijian Lovo for Sunday lunch.
