The Beachouse

The Beachouse is the perfect place to start your Fijian adventure. Hectares of beachfront on Fiji's famous Coral Coast is yours to enjoy. One of Fiji's original and best backpacking budget resorts. Prices are inclusive of breakfast & afternoon tea daily. The resort with the 'Small Island Experience' with the 'Big Island Convenience' ... transfers to & from the Beachouse are easy and inexpensive, local bus coming past every hour. Bus trips to Nadi are only FJ$10 ... not bad for a 100km trip!

We generally have 50 or so guests staying, so it is a good place to source up to date information off fellow travellers when planning your onward Fiji travel.

As you may already know, the Beachouse was the site selected for the reality TV show ‘ Love Island ’ (a U.K ITV1/Granada program). Filming took place over 6 months at the Beachouse in 2006. As a result, the Beachouse now has new resort facilities including a resort pool right near the beach (see website); combined with our spacious dorms and garden rooms, we believe that the Beachouse offers you the best backpacker accommodation and facilities in Fiji.

THE CAFE:
The Beachouse has its own beachside cafe and bar which is open from 8am until midnight. Meals are inexpensive and range in price from F$5.00 to F$13.00. We serve a variety of tasty meals and vegetarians are also catered for. The cafe & bar are poolside and situated 30 metres from the beach (check out photos on the website); it consequently acts as a popular focal point for most of our guests.

There are self catering facilities also available at the Beachouse, so feel free to cook up some noodles or something more elaborate should you wish to do

WHAT IS THERE TO DO WHILST AT THE BEACHOUSE?
For those who do not want to just laze on the beach or curl up in a hammock with a book or lounge by the pool ... we have plenty of other possible activities for you. A sample is as follows: guided reef walks (learn how to catch octopus at low tide), coconut jewellery making and weaving lessons, beach volleyball every afternoon. Sana from Navola Village also organises daily snorkelling trips to the reef, & the free use sea-kayaks. Visit the local village school or trek to the local waterfall. Recently we commenced trekking expeditions to Navola Falls (a favourite with travellers) …. a 3 hour round hike from the Beachouse ...... a "must do" activity for those wanting a good bush-walk. Otherwise simply relax on a beachside hammock (yes ... tied between two coconut trees).
SCUBA diving is also available at the Beachouse with local operator (Diveaway) or at the nearby and in the Beqa Lagoon (specialty shark diving – world renowned). The nearby hinterland rainforest also boasts some excellent white-water rafting. Going further a field, you can do an Island day trip or take a Suva day trip - visit the museum, see where the coups took place or take in a movie (very reasonable & clean modern theatres). Sigatoka is a good day trip for those wanting to visit the sand dunes & the Tavuni Hill Fort or buy produce at the local Sigatoka market or supermarkets. Internet is also available for those wanting to e-mail or browse the web, the Beachouse now has high speed broadband available (15c per minute, F$7 per hour). To catch up with sports results or the news back home, we have a spacious TV lounge with a large 50 inch screen. The bar also has a lounge with comfy couches to relax on and the pool table is also available for those wanting to pit their skills against the local staff in a game of Killer Pool!!

Accommodation Information

The Beachouse has excellent accommodation facilities. The rooms are cool (fans in all rooms), comfortable - with oversized singles in dorms and all double rooms have queen or king size beds. All rooms are insect screened and our bathrooms are spotlessly clean.

This will be some of the best backpacker accommodation you will have experienced.
