Nearby Swaffham is the setting for the popular ‘Kingdom’ TV series, starring Stephen Fry, and has a busy Saturday market and lots of shops, cafes, restaurants and pubs. Close to the guest house is the Leisure Centre, where you can enjoy badminton, squash, table tennis, aerobics and an 18-station gym, and the Energize swimming pool and spa are a short drive away. The town has many attractions and amenities, including its medieval church and the Ecotech Centre, and the surrounding countryside offers nature reserves, fishing lakes, forest walks on the Peddars Way national hiking trail, golf courses and historic sites like Castle Acre Priory and the Iceni Village. The coast is only 30 minutes away, as are the Walsingham holy shrines, the Queen’s Sandringham Estate and Snetterton race circuit. Swaffham has a grand medieval church, built partly with treasure found by the legendary Pedlar of Swaffham, and there are lots of other historic sites just a short drive away. These include Castle Acre Priory, one of the largest and best preserved monasteries in Britain, and the Iceni Village, a pre-Roman settlement reconstructed as it was in the time of Queen Boadicea.

Other local places of interest include the Swaffham Ecotech, where you can view the UK's first multi-megawatt wind turbine, and Gooderstone Water Gardens, which is a must for nature lovers. Narborough Trout Lakes offer a great day's fishing, while walkers and bird watchers will enjoy the ancient Peddar's Way, which is part of the National Trail. The high ropes and tall trees of Extreeme Adventure is perfect for adrenaline fiends, and the Energise Fitness Centre at Pentney has two swimming pools and a luxurious spa looking out onto glorious countryside.

Going a little further a field, you can also visit the Queen’s Sandringham Estate, the holy shrines at Walsingham and the Norfolk Broads, the biggest protected wetland in the country. The Norfolk coast is just 30 minutes drive from Swaffham, as is the motor sport race circuit at Snetterton.
