Liked: Staff are great, really friendly and helpful, nice big common area and TV room. Free toast all day comes in handy! Well located in the Northern Quarter and within easy walking distance of shops and some of the main city attractions.

Disliked: Paying for the internet

Liked: Free 24hr toast was great! The 14 person dorm was squishy when there were 14 people, with all their bags and different plans for the day. But most of us became friends. Friendly staff, wish I could of stayed more than a couple of hours in Manchester and The Hatters, as it was only a pit stop.

Disliked: There was a laptop and jacket stolen from our room the night I stayed, there were 14 people staying in one room that night. But that's not the hostel's fault. Not many bathrooms for the amount of people staying.

Liked: It's close to Picadilly and the staff were great, really helpful. You can live off the free stuff-toast and coffee/tea if you have to without shelling out for groceries! The breakfast is pretty good and lasts til 10, checkout is late too (11AM) There's a lift which is a pretty big deal as hardly any hostels in England seem to have one and it's SO nice when one does if you're on the 5th floor!!!

Disliked: Wasn't a problem for me since it was a midweek stay in winter, but I'm guessing in summer there aren't nearly enough showers or toilets-only a couple on every second floor. The showers suck-you have to get undressed in what's basically a public space because the showers are just showers, no extra pace at all, and there's nowhere to hang your towel in the cubicle at ALL. The internet isn't free. The atmosphere is kind of dingy-which is tbh kind of like Mnachester so it fits but I didn't like it, it felt dirty and the rooms were pretty small too.

Liked: Location is wonderful. Really close to the center, a main metro station, and the train station.

Disliked: The property is a bit old, rooms could be fixed up, and lift is out of order.

Liked: pros: it was nice, clean, and the people ere friendly to let me know how to get around in the city.

Disliked: cons: the showers don't have a temperature changer, so you shower with a normal temp, not hot not cold, which was not bad but if you enjoy your very hot showers, you won't get them here, apart from that everything is good.

Liked: good location. staff were friendly. free tea/coffee/toast all day. free light breaky. 11am checkout, a good sleep in time! kitchen avaliable.

Disliked: floors ddnt really look clean. when i saw them cleaning my room, they gave it only a quick non decent sweep. needs a good mop. no free wifi. my keycard stopped working the first night. locked out of room in my nighty, lil embarrsing.

Liked: Location great, the rooms and common areas (including toilets and showers)! were clean and the breakfast was better than in any other hostels I've stayed at (they even had yoghurt and fresh orange juice). They also had free bread and coffee and tea all day long :P

Disliked: You couldn't close the windows in my room properly, so it was rather chillly during the night time. And some people may not like the showers, as for you don't have much privacy, they don't even have doors that can be locked - but then there are separate showers for men and women, so it's not really that big a problem :)

Liked: Lovely staff who are always happy to help you out. Big ups to young Bill who was a great host, taking us out on the town! Very good social vibe here..easy to meet other travellers in common areas. Great location close to coach station and in the Northern Quarter - cool area. Place felt like home after a few nights here. Free bread all day every day is always a winner too..

Disliked: Expensive Internet/wifi.. but oh well.

Liked: Location and some very friendly and extremely helpful female staff.

Disliked: Terrible attitude, manners, intelligence and customer service from the male staff on night duty.

Liked: really easy to find, close to the centre, relatively quiet well it was at 4.00 when I got in.

Disliked: The only niggle was that they changed the booking out time it was advertised as 12. am but was changed to 11 so I lost my deposit for being half an hour late.

Liked: I really liked staying at the Hatters. The staff is friendly and helpful. The kitchen facilities are good as well and you get bread/butter and tea/coffee 24/7. They have a pool table and a seperate tv room. The common room seems kind of cool and the locations is awesome.

Disliked: There aren't enough plugins in the room and no lockers.

Liked: Excellent location, friendly staff, you can ask the staff to put on music from the computer and had no problem being asked to change regularly. Also great chill out areas were you drink you own booze.

Disliked: a bit pricey for a dorm bed.

Liked: great location, shower is warm enough whereas other hostels have problem on it sometimes.

Disliked: bad smell indoor cuz of no fresh air blowing in. And there should be a locker for each.

Liked: It's a very nice and clean hostel. The staff is extremely friendly and helpful. It's located in the centre - 5 minutes from the main bus station
