Liked: The Monkey in the trees is in a very nice neighbourhood, not that far from 2 metrostops on which some of the main lines have stops. There's also a nightbus from the centre of London that passes the hostel. All the rooms are very clean, so are the toilets and the showers. There's also a great atmosphere between all the people staying there, on our last night in London, we went out with 8 people from the hostel and we had a great time. I would definitely recommend this one to all of my friends

Disliked: The fact that the bar wasn't open a bit longer

Liked: Very clean, staff were very helpful and beds were cosy.

Disliked: For those unfamiliar to London it might be a bit of a challenge as it's a fair distance from a tube station.

Liked: It is located about 15min walking distance or 5min on the bus from the tube station but it's not that bad, it has got plenty of showers and toilets, there is a tv room but they also have a pub downstairs on the ground floor which has got great decor and gives great feeling. The rooms are ok, not very big but big enough. There is a garden at the back but was to cold to stay there. Staff is great, always ready to help. The whole place is nice and clean. I enjoyed my stay.

Liked: The toilets/showers were spacious compared to other hostels

Disliked: You must remember multiple codes to enter/exit the hostel (a different code for every door.. 4 doors in total) Vague/unhelpful staff No front door entrance between 10pm and 10am 48 hour cancellation policy Breakfast facilities are a joke - be prepared to not only make your own toast from a loaf of old bread but to even plug the toaster in yourself lol Unsafe location after 8pm Blood stained sheet (was changed the next day and all our belongings were dumped on the floor) No Wifi (this was promised to be fixed but never was) Bar closes at 10pm aswell as the back garden area. Tv room was tiny with few chairs and a small tv Larger tv can be found in the bar but had a dark black line through the middle of the screen

Liked: Hostel is great. I have stayed here several times now and always enjoyed it. It's on the nicer side of London (i.e. the west). All the faciities you expect are available such as reliable wifi, lockers, kitchen for cooking your own food, decent common room space. And the staff have always been very friendly to me when i was there. I woud happily recomend it and will probably stay there again in the future.

Disliked: There was nothing i disliked about the hostel.

Liked: Very friendly staff, relatively easy access, although quite a trek from city centre. Shops and food are available close by.

Disliked: Small lockers - would like to be able to lock in a whole bag.

Liked: The breakfast was really good, the staff was friendly and the room was ok.

Disliked: There was a bathroom exclusive for girls to take shower, but it was terrible! Really wet and never clean! The bathrooms in general were a little dirty. And the locker was too small, so we had to put there just our most valuable things and let the luggage on the room, but, fortunatelly, nothing happened.

Liked: Good hostel with a big potential. About 10min walk or 5min on the bus from the tube station. Amazing staff, always ready to help and because of their effort I will rate this hostel high.

Disliked: Nothing worth mentioning.

Liked: Good staff, very good breakfast. Clean rooms and bathrooms. Location is not perfect but good transport links even at night time.

Disliked: People don't close the door behind them and for that reason I will advise to use locker but plenty of them.

Liked: Friendly staff.

Disliked: There was a bad case of bed bugs at this hostel. Five days later, I'm still dealing with huge painful welts across my arms and legs I had an allergic reaction to the bites. Would never stay again.

Liked: To begin, I did not actually stay with Monkeys in the Trees my full two nights. Not because I did not like the property, but because HostelBookers did not alert me to the fact that my beds were not available. If beds had been available, I would have happily stayed for the full two nights, and possibly a third. That being said, my friends and I showed up to the hostel with absolutely no plan B, and would have ended up wandering the streets of London or paying for a very expensive hotel had the staff not worked so hard to find us a place to stay with them. I greatly appreciate the trouble they went to for us, and highly recommend this property to anyone staying in London. It is a bit outside the center of the city, but that means it is a bit more quiet and a bit less under construction. The atmosphere in the hostel is also fantastic. It sits over a really great, casual bar and gives lots of opportunity to meet and mingle. Another thing I know that is very important for the budget traveler--breakfast was fantastic. Plenty to eat and prepare yourself for the day!

Disliked: I can honestly say there was nothing I disliked.

Liked: The bar was definitely the best feature of this hostel. It was warm and cosy and the prices were fair.

Disliked: The location of this hostel is terrible. The area feels very unsafe and I was actually chased to the front door by a crazy lady shouting obscenities who just happened to be on the street at the same time I was. Inside the hostel the rooms were tiny and there just was not enough room for 6 people and their luggage. The beds were quirky and although fine to get in, it was difficult to get out of. The pillow and duvet were practically non-existent and the mattress was very uncomfortable. The bathrooms were really dirty and there was no toilet roll or soap. I've stayed in lots of hostels and this is the first time that I couldn't make myself use the shower.

Liked: The staff were really friendly, the breakfast was good, it was in a quiet street and it was a good price.

Disliked: The beds in the 10 dorm were really uncomfortable, you could feel the strings digging into your back. The location was a bit of a nuisance. It's a bit far from the tube station which is generally fine but when you are carrying luggage, it really sucks.

Liked: Staff was very kind and also lent us charger adapters although selling ones,too. The breakfast was very good and the hours served were not strictly followed. The atmosphere in the pub was great with a warm decorating style.Indeed there was free wifi. Staff was likely to give advice for transportation anytime. Hot water in the showers any time.

Disliked: There could have been one wc at the floors,too, though not that crowded during our stay. Lockers for the luggage would be useful, too.

Liked: Staff is great, rooms ok, lots of showers and always hot. Location ok but not outside underground, 10min away. Very nice pub downstairs. Overall very clean place and well run.

Disliked: Some people have lots of luggage and keep it in the room instead of taking it into the luggage room, take lots of space.

Liked: It was clean, and the location relatively good.

Disliked: Too many beds in a room, stacked 3 high with no room for bags or lockers, for this reason it was very over priced and not as good as other hostels that I have stayed at in London. They also stopped serving breakfast before the time that they were supposed to so make sure you get down there at least half an hour before it finishes.

Liked: Staff were extremely good and willing to help with anything, good location in Hammersmith, and for the price you can't really go wrong.

Disliked: Only thing I didn't like was no power sockets in the bathrooms, but other than that everything was fine.
