Joshua Bouzy thinks…

"The location was very convenient. It was within walking distance from the metro and many other important sites. And they provide free breakfast, which is a plus."

Liked: I think the best thing to consider when staying at Surprise is understanding the point of a hostel is just to sleep there. My friends and I would wake up at a decent hour and spend the whole day in the city. This is a place where you only sleep, not hangout. The showers were great and the location is perfect. You save so much money on the tube and taxis because you can walk everywhere. Only 20 mins to big ben and the eye. I DEFINATLEY reccoment to college students just looking for a place to crash who want to save money and plan on going to bed every night hammered because sober sleeping there could be difficult.

Disliked: The smell was a little harsh and the beds were very springy. Bring a pillow if you can and the sheets are a little gross but like I said you get what you pay for.

Liked: It was very close to Victoria station and central London. It's a cheap place to stay, but not for too long. 5 days max. maybe.

Disliked: Very small rooms. I stayed with 6 girls but there was hardly any space for walking or your luggage. The beds were ok and the breakfast was not tasty.

Liked: It was a cheap price. The bus 36 stops a block away and Pimlico Underground Station is only 3 blocks away. It offers all the amenities that allows for a budget friendly stay: free Wifi, a kitchen, showers. The beds were pretty comfy compared to other hostels I have been to.

Disliked: Felt like it's a pub that just happened to have several rooms upstairs. The staff are barely present... The kitchen is fairly small and there were people staying at the hostel for a long period and were always in there. They took up the 2 tables and 5 seats that were in the kitchen. And were always watching the TV, not really seeing if other people cared. Though this is people issue, and not a hostel issue. The bathrooms aren't bad but there are no plugs, and the toilet stalls are reeeeeeaally small. Shower was consistently hot, but it's a automatic. In other words you have to press the button to turn it on. After a little while, the water stops.

Liked: Good location, couple minutes from the Victoria Station. 20 min from Soho by walk. Small sized locker for everyone, who needs it. However get a lock with you, otherwise it can cost you 2 pounds to buy one there.

Disliked: The kitchen (dining room and tv room at the same place) is too small. We ate standing on our feet while some others occupied all the 5 seats there, watching tv.... Not much room for luggage in the rooms. Very local pub downstairs, not fun

Liked: It was close-ish to Victoria station.

Disliked: - Beds were terrible--you can feel the springs - Rooms are TINY, so there's not much room to move - They advertise internet, but it doesn't reach to the top floor, and there is no common space on the other floor besides the TINY kitchen. - The only common space is the tiny, grungy kitchen - My room had a piece of plastic instead of a window. In London, in January. - The staff seems to spend their time drinking at the pub and you can hear their drunken howling all the way upstairs.

Liked: The price, though honestly, I wouldn't have stayed there for more than a few days if I hadn't needed to. And the beds were fairly comfortable. It's conveniently located though.

Disliked: The building is run-down. There is only one bathroom for ALL of the guests, both male and female, and it's equipped with only 4 showers and 3 toilets. There wasn't any soap at the sinks for the first 3 nights of my stay, and they definitely didn't clean the bathroom daily. The kitchen is also tiny, suitable for only 4 or 5 people to sit comfortably, and the breakfast is only cereal, toast, tea, and coffee. No juice or fruit or yoghurt or anything like that. It's also difficult to find, not clearly marked, and situated above a pub. The baseboards along the stairs were filthy, and the rooms are never swept or cleaned. What's more, the rooms were TINY. The 6 person dorm consisted of two triple-bunks in a room less than 4m x 4m. There was no space to move or sit or even store luggage, especially when there was more than one person in the room.
